How'd it go today?

Well, this week certainly has been a challenge.

Lilly finally got an appointment for her broken arm for Tuesday for either surgery or just a cast. Won't know until we get there.
Funeral last week end... Fair this week end. Lilly left out of riding rides at the fair is not going well. For all three that is. Her brothers have to wait until she is not there to ride rides so she is not left on the side lines witnessing them having a blast. Took them to the demo derby last night and that was cool. Then to the dancing area with a band. Lilly loves to dance. Monday, Lilly and I will have a special day with grandma and a movie while mom and the boys go to the fair for the rides.
Broke a leaf spring on the trailer Friday. Needed the mini down this mile long nasty gravel road with tons of pot holes. Trailer bounced a few too many times. Cycles to failure... So the leaf spring hunt begins. Going to set up tie downs in the truck just to get by until I get the trailer back up.
Datsun took a wet fart on the way up the grade the other night. Had to walk 1/2 way up 1200 feet elevation of grade (about 2 miles) before the cell had service. Had to have it towed home. Looks like a carburetor... Flooding out.
Seth to Boy scouts at 6:45 and mom to work at 5AM...
Pump house leaks... Fixed most of that and a pressure switch.
Seems no rest for me over the last week and starting this one as well. Hell, I never got any laundry done. Gonna be working in skivvies soon

Poor Lilly.
Why so long a wait and what has been done to her arm meanwhile.
I'm assuming they haven't just left it dangling at her side.

TopNotch just left the building. He and his lady came through Oly last night. We met for some suds down by the downtown Oly bay of the Puget Sound...Tugboat festival this weekend. Sun going down over the ridge. Off to some very Oly, Oly-spots for some beverages. My guy Erik was out with us. Headed back to the house. They stayed overnight, had breakfast, headed maybe to a waterfront county park up the road a few miles, then heading back to CO. Cool people. Enjoyed the night and morning. Now off to the Oly Farmers' Market for some shopping and live music.

Stig,
They just put it in a temporary cast. Our hospital up here has limited facilities. They just do minimal treatment and send the patient elsewhere. She broke her arm last Tuesday. 2 foot fall off the bottom of a tree house ladder. Arm just hit a rock just right on landing. Transcondylar fracture distal right humerus.
Often times this will require surgery and held together with pins and such prior to a cast.
Technician thought they might just cast it, did not look too bad to her. But.. Never know.. or at least we won't until we get there.
Lilly will have to show up at the hospital (1.45 - 2 hours away) ready for surgery. Her appointment is at 1:45 when they will consult and make a decision. Try tellin a 4 almost 5 year old no food or drink after 7:30 AM.... Not gonna fly well!
She is a little trooper and is doing great except for her frustration of being a busy child with one arm out of commission.
Parents... not so much.

I thought that there was some new deal where they don't use plaster casts anymore. Maybe not? Still use that saw to remove them? Kind of freaky.

Bummers Stephen, hope all goes well. Luckily they're tough little buggers... pink will fix all ;)
Went to Portland yesterday and picked up my first chipper. Bandit 65xp, 37hp Hatz diesel, 465 hrs. STOKED!

Thanks guys... Dunno what the hard casts are made of any more Jay.... :dontknow:
Well... Tie downs are installed into the F350 so the mini can be transported in the bed. Do in a pinch and makes for a little more versatility when we need to tow the chipper or haul brush in the trailer.
Now about the leaf springs.. Time to crawl under the house and see what I left on the axles that brought it in :D
Here's hoping......

A Bandit 65XP sounds like a wanna have for me.

More of an Exoskeleton than a cast. I'm not sure they are in use for the general public though. Although it is Lily. Good luck!

I'll see what options are available for her once we get down there:)

Tonight was good progress on my shit that needs done list. Pulled the carb on the Datsun and am researching the next step in a rebuild or purchase.
Pulled a pair of springs off the house after I measured them and have one already installed. Not a leaf spring.... but a set solid steel springs off a 7000# axle. See how it works with a load. Might be a tad stiff.. :/:
They have helper springs in town in case I want a tad more....
Truck bed is all figured out for the mini. Much more versatile if we need the chipper or loading brush in the trailer as I mentioned prior. Probably serve us better when we have to really get back in the woods with it on some of these roads. Gawd the beating our rig and gear takes on some of these roads.
Pump house has to wait until tomorrow...
Went out back and I have a split pipe. Leaking everywhere after I just fixed the other leaks. Right at the wall too. Had to turn the water off. Now I have to drain out 3000 gallons of water and re-plumb everything from the tank to the new plumbing I just put in. Sigh...

Yes, Congrats to Justin on the anniversary and to SimplyArbor on the chipper 37 hp is pretty good on a 6inch. Being a Bandit I bet it will actually eat 6 inch stuff!

Been a long day.....
Been a good day...
Ortho at Children's Hospital said no surgery, only a cast needed for a cracked bone.
Two weeks more and the cast comes off.
Grandma helped decorate her new PPE...... Lilly chose the appropriate colour.
I did not eat all day so that she felt she was not starving alone. I cooked her one of her favourite breakfasts, French toast at 6:30 AM.
We took her to the all you can eat buffet at the casino on the way home so she could eat whatever she wanted... Let alone as much and what she might want for dessert. :D

Back to work tomorrow

Still pluggin away on the Jeep CJ5 I inherited from my dad .Slow but steady .

I changed the master cylinder yesterday ,tough to work on took me two hours . The next hurdle is to bleed the brake system .Not a big deal if I can open all the wheel cylinder bleed valves .A bigger deal if I have to do it from the closest fitting to the wheel cylinders .Works some times ,some times not so good .

Kind of comical as I look back .The old man was over 80 when the brakes failed on this old rusty relic .He only used it to plow snow .He figured it he had to stop just drop the blade .After working on this thing I see his point .

Good news, Stephen.
And I see the little princess got a pink cast. Way to go:)

What a relief, Stephen, she didn't need an operation ... wish her the best ... sweet looking little girl :)

Good job, Grandma!

All the best for Lilly...:)

Nick, I love that bit of branch union you cut, great example of compartmentalization, I keep those bits for show and tell, nothing helps novices 'get it', better that that!
