How'd it go today?

@WoodCutr
I’d attempt it myself or take it to a weld shop except I forgot to mention it’s aluminum. I have a place two and a half hours away that specializes in aluminum fab and repair. I’m hoping to find someone closer. I’ll make some calls tomorrow and sort it out
gotcha, aluminum should make it much easier to find someone, most any shop claiming to do welding or fab work should have an A/C TIG setup just for doing aluminum

Tree's out, ready for grapple truck, broke out the forks to move the last 2 big rounds, cleanup was an hour and a half on this 60ft tall 42" DBH maple

maple near brush pile needs to come down, I cleaned up a stem that broke off it about 3 years ago, told the it should come down then, still waiting on it to fall and knock power out like the one I did today

The clutch parts came in for my tractor project today. I drove out there to check them out and measure the disc. Old was 0.265", rebuilt, it is now 0.370". While there, I learned that Spike, the resident porcupine, had recently gotten a girlfriend, Barb. :lol: Never a dull moment at the goat farm.

Older shot of Spike:

been looking into stuff for a while now and thinking its time to start studying for my class A CDL, I really, really don't want it but I'm holding myself back horribly without it, so if anyone has any tips or anything I need to know then I'd appreciate it! and if anyone knows a good truck driving school near Knoxville TN that would be excellent, particularly if I can do some of it online and avoid having to drive multiple hours back and forth every day for 3 weeks

had a guy come get logs, not sure what to think of this, other than I was TERRIFIED of even slightly touching the sides while loading this, plywood and fiberglass, the plan was to fit my entire stockpile in one load, but thats over 15 tons and there was no chance that truck would have made it home in one piece lol

don't even think he strapped it down, guess we will just wait on the news report titled "Modified UHaul truck dumps logs across interstate" LOL

@Dave Shepard, your sycamore is much bigger than ours...

Today, I ran ropes, rode the ball to make one cut and rig two pieces, then I ran the stump grinder.

Got home and immediately rode a lap around the 'hood. Took one road over to Midpines, and another back. Happy to report that the shit-bike is running really good, all things considered. Carb still occasionally pisses fuel, badly. I have to pull the fuel line off and plug it because the petcock is leaking. Also the clutch is slipping pretty bad. Not surprised, given that I found the engine full of gas the other day, and it was also bought from a 19 year old, and it spent much time with several of his friends. If it's not the clutches themselves, it's the springs. If I stay off the clutch and speed shift, she's fine, but if I start using the clutch to shift, she starts to slip. Still need to check valve clearance, and find out what specs my timing chain should be at. I really should give the little thing a minor tear down, but I loathe to rip into a running engine.

Shit-bike will stay shitty until after I have a proper road bike squared away. I'd look for a little car, but with gas at $5 and change a gallon, a motorcycle is the only way I'll be able to afford going to see my kids without Amtrak.

Don’t ya love it when no one listens? Those jobs kinda validate my expertise though.

The old 650tx lives! Starter was fine. I finally found my book so I could find the starter relay. $25 part and it fired right up after sitting for 10 months. Now to pull the pump to get the bell housing off. The pump bolts into the housing stripped out. Hoping to find a local company to fill and re tap the holes. If not I’ll get the lube out and order a new one. While it’s apart I’ll do the motor mounts. No rest for the wicked.
Going to get a shower and head off to get choked out again.
Keen, keylock, or time serts
