How'd it go today?

Its terrible.

Jenn out for at least six weeks with two pins in her wrist.

More than likely 8 weeks.

Richard boy at least gets his cast off in a week.

Reassessment after that.
The little guy looks bullet proof... Love them and give them plenty of attention and praise for good behavior and they don't need to get negative attention. My friend's son and his buddy went shooting in the woods, they took a few shots at one of the neighbor's houses. Then on their way back home, they saw the cops over there so they decided to go check it out to see what was going on, with the gun still in the car. When he told me that story, it was clear he was looking for attention from cops, judges, and jailers. That's a tough cycle to break.

Got a crack of 130pm start. Pulled out in the dark at 445.
Loaded out another full load of nice doug-fir for my neighbor, and even brought some home for myself.
Flopped two dead cedars.
Stacked mats at the driveway.

Three long fir limbs to end-weight reduce, move those tips, cut a bit of the 16" and under for the customer, and that job's a wrap.

The fir removal was a little narrower in the bole than I thought.

#HitThePad a couple-many hundred pound fir chunk from 40-50' is tougher than alternamats. One 2' broken in 2 pieces, the other 2' with a solid break, but attached. Oops. Acceptable losses. Knicked my htp, once on a reachy cut where I didn't see it, once buried in brush on the ground.
250', now in three pieces. It was getting some wear after several years. TIT. Time for a new rope, which is a mixed blessing. 250' is too much most times, enough at others.
Before this, my daily flyer was 120' of 1/2", combined with a 120' piece of 9mm htp for base-ties over 60'.

Sorry to see the injured family, Jim.

Hard breaks, Rajan. Sorry. Was this the same project you were mentioning, or another big golf course project?

Small job today. I had to top again an already topped maple, not even tall, about 25' at the cuts. Pretty simple, excepted it was in a bunch of bamboos invaded by wisteria. What a mess. Glad I didn't have to cut all that.

Just got in from testing the 026, and the verdict is... It's ok. If I were borecutting all day, I'd want to do something different, but for a borecut every so often, it works well enough. I took a few file strokes on the humps, and it seemed a bit better, then hit the cutters with a file, and it was a bit better yet. I'll slowly take them down as I do the rakers, and it should get better as the chain ages.

I'm pleased with the 3/8 setup. The saw has more than enough power to pull it with a 16" bar, and I can use all the materials I already have stocked.

edit:
Was contemplating deadwooding more of those pines(?) at the office. I figured I'd try scamming myself to see what happened. That's what I do when I have a hard time committing. It goes something like this...

Go out and take a look at good line targets. It'll be good to prepare for when you do it...

Well, you're out here now. Why don't you set the line? No commitments. It'll be good practice. You can set it, and pull it down again.

Since the line's set, you might as well pull your rope over. You can then fine tune your hitches, maybe even try flipped footlocking Bingham style. You don't have to do any work. Just fool around with the ropes.

At that point, I've got my saws strapped on, lanyard, and all the other stuff, and I'm working in the tree :^D

Snow started though. Since I don't have to do anything, I'll save it for another day. I have picked my TIP though. Boss' girlfriend came out to collect a small branch round I had cut the last time. She's gonna make a decoration with it, and asked me for more wood. She especially likes the birch. I went to the burn pile, and rescued some of the crappy birch, and a nice branch I think could be something. The cookies were a little punky, but I put them in my truck, and see what they look like when they dry. The good wood I had taken to my house. After the snow's done, I'll try to pick out some nice ones for her, and cut some cookies.

edit2:
It was a year ago today I put my cat down. I think it was the first(only?) snow of the year, same as today. I didn't deserve an animal that good. She was pretty much always with me. If I went outside to work, she laid on top of the chair, where she could keep an eye on me. Before she started peeing everywhere, she was my bed companion every night, and my lap was her favorite spot. Miss that girl...

I got a letter from the police department of mid and west Sealand today.
Scared the shit out of me.
The way I drive, I figured they had revoked my license.

We have a 3 strike system here, where if caught speeding more than a certain percentage above the speed limit, they mark your license.
3 of those and you lose it.
They go away after 3 years, so if you've been a good law abiding boy for 3 years, you are back to start.

Well, I'm not a good boy but a fast one, so I figured I was on foot for the next 3 years.

Turned out to be a simple: " Sir, your weapons permit has elapsed, please renew it"

Wheeeeew!

This should amuse the Americans!

The permit is for the bigshot.

Nope, but some of our leftist protesters ( Which, seeing that this is commieland, are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo far to the left of what you guys call leftist protestors, that they are not even on the same World map)
found out that you could use it as a ballistic weapon to drop stuff on the ranks of police officers.

So now you need a weapons permit for them.

I figured that would bring a few chuckles here.

Weapons Permit for a slingshot? Sure Sounds communist to me ... I better get my tinfoil hat up to snuff

I'm not laughing, that's just sad. Silly laws like those are mentioned in the book I posted a thread about a while ago.

My guess is that when classified as a weapon, used against as another, especially a LEO, it's a heavier penalty than " just a slingshot. Am I on to anything, Stig?

Truth be told, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be all that hard to severely injure, or kill, with a BigShot and a golf ball.

But to require a weapons permit??...I have to think the Danish police took some level of casualties first, or at the very least seen the potential after experiencing offensive BigShot use, rather than just speculating on a risk that never had been deployed against them.

After all, the latter would take some fairly imaginative thinking...something police forces have never been really stellar at :).

Burnham,
Been quite busy. Snowed today. Tomorrow I’ll start early to clear walks and drives at five sets of elderly; then take one of them to a retinal specialist; then I get to go to work. At least the two day crane job got rescheduled due to the snow/sleet.

Your schedule continues to tire me just in the reading, my friend. Take care, be well.

Me...about all I did today was move a couple of wheelbarrows full of firewood to the splitting block, split them, then to the wood box on the porch. Washed the dishes, re-covered the Jag after the wind took it's cover off. Read the last 6 chapters of my latest Baldacci library book. Watched it rain and blow outside my warm windows. Kept wood in the stove from time to time.

Tough duty.
:)

The break from the shop drywall finishing was so I could open up the knee walls in the house, pull out the plywood on the’floor’, seal up the wall to ceiling joints and wire intrusions, install soffit vent baffles and now ready to blow in R60 of cellulose. They didn’t waste insulation on areas unseen back in 1959!!

In those days, a thick quilt on the bed was all the insulation one could dream of.

Did the word "insulation" even exist then, I wonder?
