I'm with you 90% on that, my friend - and in your case for SURE the waiting sucked. But if all you have to fear is a skinny onanist, I don't think the 'weapon' in his hand's gonna be a firearm, LOL!

RD, are you sure you want to feed that V-8? My sister has a '99 I-6 and it only gets mid-teens for mileage. I do like the Grand Cherokees.

The last week, every morning when i drive to work this guy has been sitting on one of the fenceposts to the sheep pasture, sort of looking lost.

So today I made a nestingbox for him. Now I'm waiting for the glue to dry, so I can hang it in a tall red alder.

he is a Tawny Owl Strix Aluco

Awesome picture, Stig.

Adrian, why the boner for Jeeps? If you need the seating capactiy, I'd be looking at double cab mini pickups, Tacoma's, Rangers (not sure if they have double cabs), Nissan Frontiers. That way you have the bed space too.

Cool, Stig. I was out bike riding yesterday and stopped to watch a red tailed hawk for about 5 minutes. Owls are especially cool though.

Ditto to Brendon's comment on the Rangers, although I'm biased since mine was so damn reliable.

Not in America, Brendon. Europe has a rockin' four door Ranger with a small diesel though. The American Ranger with extended cab is what Erik and I were referring to.

Actually, the Sport Trac is an Exploder with a bed. Different frame than the Ranger. Back in the early 90s they shared the same design but have grown far apart since then.

Not according to the Ford forum; the SportTrac has the Ranger's longer frame, and same engine/tranny combos. Same GVW and towing capability.

I'm not sure what they were going for with the looks; to me it looks as cheesy as the Avalanche. I think the Ranger has better styling, too, so why they chose to put the Exploder nose on there is beyond me. :barf:

Don't really have a preference, just checking out different cars. I looked for Tacomas with extended cabs, but didn't find many without a lot of miles. I'll go check again, because I looked awhile back, so it may have changed. I really like the look of the Tacoma. And bed space would be great.

As for feeding a V8, I don't mind too much. I guess it depends on the vehicle, but feeding a V6 vs. a V8, there isn't a huge difference that I can see. At least with the Jeep. My Jeep, with the V6, gets about the same miles as that 2004 V8 Jeep.

Jeeps fall apart (as evidenced by your current vehicle). The Toyotas and Rangers don't fall apart as easily. Sorry, but I've known a lot of people who have bought Jeeps (90s and newer) and they all fall apart. I don't see the appeal. I've never seen one owned by somebody who is mechanically inclined.

I've owned two Cherokee's (a Sport and a Limited); both had me spending more time under the hood than I prefer.

Gotchya.

I always hear Owls here at the house, not once have I been able to locate him though.

It's wild how they seem to throw their voice. I heard a rustling in a pine tree at night and went to investigate. It was a Screech Owl that was trying to nab roosting sparrows. It stayed right in my flashlight beam for a couple minutes, but naturally when I went home to get a camera and came back, it was gone. Sawwhets are friendly little owls you see in the daytime occasionally. Last winter I was walking through my woods on a cold blustery day. I saw something fluttering up in the branches. It was an owl roosting.
