How'd it go today?

Well lets see, I woke up around 5:30 for some reason, took a little arbo test thingy, drove home, played with the kid, took a two hour nap, weeded the lawn a bit, drew a horse on the sidewalk with colored chalk, puzzled over Ed Begley Jr.'s near death experience(I wonder if he saw a bright light at the end of the tunnel) made dinner, rented a few movies for tonight, bathed a 3 year old, treated an owie, plopped the kid in front of a Berenstain Bear vid and sat down to write this post. Soon I will give the kid a snack brush her teeth, cajole her into cleaning her room and making her bed, read a few books and hopefully send her on a flight to the land of nod.

Fed the baby, changed baby's bum, napped, fed the baby, changed baby's bum napped, fed the baby, put in bouncy chair, wiped up spit up, changed bum, put back in bouncy chair, surfed internet, now going to nurse baby again.

It's a glamorous life.

PS: Notice I put "napped". I've discovered there is no such thing as "sleeping" once you have a baby. :)

Nat my boys 2 ,he doesn't go to be untill 10.30 pm , wakes up around 4am ,but at least he's nearly out of nappies...

Hang in there Natalie! Only 17 years 11 months and two weeks more and then you can take a break.
:P

Roller - Before I had a baby I never thought that the idea of getting 6hrs sleep in a row would be bliss, and something to look forward too! :)

well the weather wasnt great and I got to the site (my parents place) a couple hours before everyone else was supposed to show. I set up some lines in the tree and hung around, finally got work that the family gathering was being changed to a sisters place and that I wouldnt be climbing trees with the young ones today. So I practiced air humping up the tree a ways, descending then doing it all over again, for an hour or so. then hucked it all down, packed up and drove over to see the family for pops day.
then.. went in to the basement (unfinished) with one of my bro in laws and the gaggle of young ones, I set up a pulley ver a rafter, threw a line in it and proceeded to give pinata rides (minus the wacking with sticks) to the little ones, one at a time. :D overall, a good day.

Its just not a pinata without the whacking. Sounds fun Paul. Funny they didn't tell you about the venue change. Where they surprised to see you when you showed up?

it was a comedy of miscommunication. I thought we were doing what I wanted when in fact the opposite was quite true. but I did get to hang out with my new nieces for a while in quiet time, had one sleeping on my chest for about 45 mins.... so very peaceful having a little (tiny!) person laying on you snoozing away. :D

They write songs about that Paul! Ill have to send it to you..

I loved the start of the post, "the weather".....

Im home, OUT of the cold by 3pm, snow will be here soon.

Any chance of a prussik loop on the kids rope instead?

prussik? sure. any particular reason vs a blakes?
and yes, I bet there are songs about having a human being that weighs less than 6 pounds sleeping on you. it certainly evokes emotion. :)

In two words "child proof"

Just looking at the Blakes, i dont like the tail and stopper knot, [a] it would be in the kids face, and it could get accidently grabed.

the prussic is smaller, neater and stays together well, the only knot in it is the dbl fisho to join the 8mil.

Now that its smaller and neater, we can take BOTH ends of one rope up the tree, the prussics(different colors) never come out of the biner, just the fig 8 comes out goes around and back in again.

I beleive the kids will pick up on the "plumbob" idea real quick, with one rope they are limited to travelling up and down only, introudce two and you can now go sideways, great for traversing between trees!

Its the Instructor in me, cant help myself!

I know i need to get it on video, i recon id get some converts for sure.

Cant even find a decent pic...

See how one knot is "around" the tree branch, on the left, the one on the right is ready to grab.

If i let out on the ropes, a little at a time on each i would be able to steer on my way down, if you spread the ropes out, of course you'
ll travell more, they would be able to acsess most of the tree.

More so, see how small and neat they are?
Nothing to inpair my vision either, when the kids get used to sliding down with two arms, they will soon use two at once, they are a perfect one hand friction knot!
