How'd it go today?

Doesn't look too bad. Freehand milling's a challenge. Some days I got it, others I don't. Maybe just an off day.

I tried free hand milling today. I'm thinking the chain is the biggest problem right now, since it wasn't cutting right. It wanted to cut sideways into the boards, the one time I've ever had a chain want to do that so easily. Normally the open kerf guides the chain, but the chain was happy to stick to one side or the other and start a new kerf.

Looks rough sawn to me. See what I did there lol.

Cory…. a shit load of tweakers tweaking and watching you and your stuff….
Tons of shoplifting from mainly TOURISTS.

My favorite is they stole a guys tailgate off his truck downtown 7pm while he was eating dinner. Haha So f00ked.

John, free saw! :rockhard: :rockhard:

Deva, just wow:/:. Sucks.

Lol I had the tailgate stolen from my f250 years ago. It was actually in a really nice neighborhood, had taken the tailgate off to load wood and set it to the side in front yard, did some work in the back yard, come back out front...no tailgate :whine::whine:

On the Ford tailgates, they have always been removable by lifting the right side off the hinge with the gate halfway open. Going back to the mid 80's I would always get a standard hose clamp and install it over the right side tailgate hinge so it wouldn't come off.

Deva, sounds like a liberal government's utopia there in Hawaii. Maybe not as bad as San Fransisco but getting there. I'm fortunate that I live where stuff like that is unacceptable.

That's a good idea with the hose clamp, Brian. Makes it just enough more trouble to steal than the next tailgate down the street. Dodge, Chev, and Toyota gates all work the same way, to my knowledge.

I offered a friend/neighbor a climbing experience. He went up on my spare gear. He did well and made it to the top of his tie in where there was a hanger I left for him to remove. It wouldn’t fall on him during ascent, so it was his goal of the climb.

Another friend and neighbor showed me his homemade wood splitter. A welder made most of it and my friend is modifying the snot out of it. He even installed a hydraulic oil coolant system.

Did a small climbing job for another neighbor. Pieced out limbs over obstacles. No clean up. It was fun. Lots of getting far out on limbs. I did some limb walking yesterday too to retrieve hangers. I’ve probably done more limb walking this weekend than ever before and am getting more comfortable with it.

I had to reshoot my TIP to do the second half of the job. I thought I could get it from one point but ended up fighting hard and just gave up.

Sick again. Same thing I guess, but I was feeling pretty decent yesterday, and feel like ass today. Eyeballs hurt, and no energy. Also got my old buddy Dry Cough back. Going on three weeks now. It's getting old. Probably the awful warm air festering the last few days. By the time fall gets here, it'll be time for spring :^(

A local small tree service that I have a relationship with contacted me yesterday and the owner was talking about having me climb and sell for him as well as manage a removal crew and a trim/planting/mulching crew. I spoke to him about 10 months ago regarding being a climber but he couldn’t pay enough. So he knows what I need to make. The thing is, I would need lots of training. He knows that though. I can sell (enjoy( and manage people (enjoy or hate- depending on who I’m managing) I’m going to talk to him more in depth tonight. I’m nervous I wouldn’t be able to perform the way I think someone in that position should.

Sounds like an interesting opportunity. Keep in mind, most people don't know what they're doing. They BS their way into a position, and figure it out as they go. You'll do fine if you take it as seriously as you have up to this point.

Re doctors... I'm not dying yet. When that comes, I may give them a try. Otherwise, I'll wait for my immune system to get it's ass in gear and handle it.

I/we finished our bathroom remodel. My suggestion is if you want to test your marriage is to remodel your bathroom. Still married, but damn do tempers fly. Not worth the process, hire that shit out. Back to boring tree work for the rest of the week. I have an interesting tree this week I’ll take a pic or two. It’s a big ish hung up ash.

Saturday job was a negative rigging a dead two year old spar down from a wind event next to a house, shed, irrigation, water tank and propane tank. Had to dice the top section out first tangled in a green ponderosa with a crack running down through it.
Then rig and bomb a canyon live oak (three sections of two leads of a multistem) over a wood stove pipe, roof, septic and irrigation.
HO cleanup. Slid him in and he had gone OOT. wait till he sees his mess
I did not bury him too deep :/: . Just my SOP.
Neighbor buddy brought us hot coffee. Done and packed up in 4 hours.
