How'd it go today?

Not my land. A friend of mine has a nursery and I have been doing tree work over there for years. This time he needed another type of help. I plan to post more as we install the ridge vent opener and other interesting automation.

Went to CVS to get the J&J vaccine, but their freezer broke, and they had to throw it out. I'll try again next week. If that fails, I'm not gonna bother. I only went cause it's free and convenient. If it isn't free AND convenient, I'm not doing it.

Stopped by the consignment shop and got a couple small C clamps for milling, and a big roll of sisal twine for whatever. It's already awful out. 86° and 75% humidity. I plan on staying in the house til Monday morning. Might get some vegetables tomorrow morning, but probably not.

Forgot about something I saw last Thursday. Was driving back from a job, and had to pull over and stop for an escorted oversize load. A big ass truck went by with I don't even know how many axles, and it was carrying a big ass radioactive cube. Attached to that big ass truck were two more big ass trucks with huge concrete blocks for ballast. Basically a big road train with three engines. Never seen anything like it before. I wish I got some pictures.

Oak cuts like butter in comparison. I'd rather cut Hickory than sugar maple.

But that is a 088, it runs a good bit slower than a 90cc rpm wise. A few modifications would have it flying through that log. I've never been impressed with any 880 I've run so far, 2 stock, one modified, but I blame the chain on the modified saw. I felt like a modified 90cc would have been way better.

It's so hard they use it for electric guitar necks and stuff, mainly because of the rigidity leads to better sustain. I think violins too, it's what everything is made of, each piece carved from a block. They used to use it for making bearings for line shafts and stuff too i think, impregnated with oil or wax. You can still buy them and they still make them, because they work that well.

I celebrated a Monday myself today too.

Spent 2 hrs trying to get a top-dresser working, that my boss insisted I use to save time, to do a job I usually finish in an hour by hand. On off switch is shorted somewhere...went to start it just before getting on the Tee box...no dirt...leave tee, and here comes the dirt & won't stop..emptied itself on the fairway.:X

Tee head punctured a tire on the cart I had filled with buckets of dirt 'cause the "dresser" never got to working...of course it was at the farthest corner of the course away from tools, etc.

Small Maple fell on the course & boss waited until it was 80 degrees out before saying he'd like it cut up & moved today...headed home & picked up chainsaw.

On my way home I stopped to string-trim the boss's lawn...first time I bump the trimmer head to advance the line it advanced itself out of line...lucky it's only a mile back to the course for more line.:|:

I was considering mowing the lawn at home, but don't believe I'll be touching any more machinery today...:/:

Just returned from a memorial for an old friend. He was a blaster so per his request they sent him off in style, his style anyway. Loaded his ashes in a bore hole and lit him up. Pretty spectacular for a non production shot. RIP Paul.
