How'd it go today?

BOO!!!!!!!

Honestly Mike, I prety much do what I want anyway!! You cannot expect a person to be on call 24hrs a day, seven days a week month after month!!
They call me and I've had a few I show up. It's been brought up by the APM's a cuple of times. My answer, "I've been off the clock x hours, and I do have a life besides this place. Do you want me to fix it, or go back home?"
That has alwy shut them up and they lead me to the machine with the problem!
It would be one thing if it was scheuled on-call, but this is anytime something breaks on-call.

I'm in the same boat. It is a major PITA to be on call 24-7-365. I have had to go to work with a buzz on more than a few times. What can you do? am I supposed to go out on a Saturady night and drink chocolate milk?? or just sit by the phone and wait for the call that may or may not come??:|:

Ain't punctuation sweet! :D

Why would we want to go and do something like that There aint no fun there Its kinda like using paragraphs What good are those things I am soo glad I am out of work Going to diner with my sis from VA my folks my wife and my son should be a really good time Then I think I am going to just chill tonight then we have the big aniversary party tommorow
:P

Hey Andy, keep your eye on the bottom line (for you) and don't get distracted by the quick talk or gifts (trucks, etc) of these companies who want you 'on board' as a paid employee.

You're kidding right? No gifts or etc!!! I have asked the big boss for a couple of things.
One was tools, "I understand you need tools to do you're job, lets get some. I want them set up on a shadow board yada yada yada"
I asked if there was a price limit, "Nope, get what you need!"
I cannot order anything and my boss was out of town, so I hit up one of the APM's while he was "in the mood" you know?
I am sitting in the office and the APM calls to get a price limit at my request. The big boss is on speaker, unaware of my being there. "WHAT??? I never authorized that!!!":what:
I asked for a "smart phone" last week. I am always on the run and have had a LOT of complaints that I do not have e-mail. My boss is being a control freak so he wont get me a loggin.
"Well, I'll think about it, but I don't see it happening!"
Yeah, lots of gifts and flash/candy being thrown my way!! NOT!!!!

Well today had the day off.I fine tuned the splitter I've been fooling with forever. That thing will cut though 8 inchs of red oak sideways and not even hiccup.Split about a face cord.

Tom brought another 335 Huskie out so I can get a muffler from to see how well I did repairing the oiler that nobody can figure out.Tommorrow is another day in the shade tree mechanics life, tonight, whiskey, good conversation .Perhaps a little sugar .:|:

long day, some good some bad, got our highway job done in good time the the chip truck quit. had it towed to a shop as i havent the time to mess with it. took a couple trees down for the out-laws this afternoon and trying to kick this lousy cold

Kids and Colds.

I took a monster limb off a valley oak over a house.

The homeowner roped for me and grounded it was great.
Poor guy 49 yrold transmission guy.

I pruned three other bay trees and an oak.,
All the brush stayed and we bucked the wood to firewood.

I worked off the last 750 bucks for my New Tranny Barter.
One little debt freed up.

:)

I did a couple of bids this morning and removed the motor and transmission from my bucket truck this afternoon.

Got my axle this morning! Yeeha! Welded the perches on, bolted it up and headed on down the road.
Back to chipping brush with my own chipper again. Sure is nice.

My wife's knee is bothering her alot today. Moaning and carrying on. But it will get better

Stripped down the front of the atv to change the propshaft, had stripped the splines in the diff. Thought while it was in the workshop may as well give it a full overhaul, as its the busy time of year thinning the woods. New tyres on the back end, drop out the oil and filter. Blow out the air filter. Sorted for now. Back to the woods tomorrow :D

:whine: No cable at the homestead yesterday or today. That means no internet. :whine: We have stopped by the office, so I had a chance to check email's ect!

Met again with a company that seems promising. He's 60 yrs old and been in trees longer than any in an adjecent town. He has the city contract and seems to be linked in well. He runs probably a $8,000 bucket really old and a bobcat and a dump.. No chipper which I like. We looked at the crane job, heres the picks, which the crane just wont reach. The bigger crane we'd need the less access for it.
Anyway I'll climb out this dead pine and the oak over the house and call it a day. We left the job and 5 miles down the road he stopped me. He gave me 5 magazines and said, "I'm 60 years old Social security will be kicking in soon and I'm ready to get out of this business." I really like the guy 3rd time I've worked with him and expect to do 4 weeks of work with him the next comming months. He said, "Ive neve met a treeeclimber that does without spikes." 3 years and he would turn it over to me I'm sure for a %. Anyways its all just work and I just wanna climb trees but at the same time make money. We will see.

Hey thanks Bodean. I moved the photos to official work photos I'm still trying to learn my way about the tree house.

Didn't do much yesterday. Tinkered with one of the 335 Huskies, got it running about the time the rain started,no test . As soon as the sun comes out I'll give it a go .

It set a record high yesterday,58 degrees but a cold front is moving in and it will likely go the other way soon .Goofy weather, warm then cold ,geeze.

I am just happy to be at work with internet access! Still none at home. The cable guy should be able to sort it out today!
