How'd it go today?

I did a couple of bids this morning, went to a bolt store and got some little bolts to bolt the torque converter to the fllywheel. Sold an old pickup of mine 1989 chevy 2500 extended cab with over 400K miles for $500. Went out and worked on my truck motor a little.
Brian, a tree guy with money in the bank? Something fishy here. Hope it works out for you.

I don't mind Labatt Blue but I don't really drink it ever, I did when I was younger though. I've been sticking with the sasquatch piss for quite awhile now, might be time to change it up.

I went back to finish the pine we got rained out on yesterday. We used padding to keep from breaking a water line. The next gig was a nice topping job. Beautiful!

Do the size of these pics bother anybody? I can reduce them next time if it's a pain, just lemme know.

Went to class, put stuff back together, stuff worked, took a test, and called it a day. :P

As for the beer tour, tonight I ventured to Asia with a layover in Italy. I had a Kirin at the Sushi bar, and tried some various shots of limoncello, sambuca, and galliano, while watching karaoke at the hotel bar.

One of those days where I did little nothing.I did however remember to purchase a nice valentine for Mrs Smith..Agh,good for another year.:)

Jonny, thats wild! I hope he is ok. The only other time I have seen a guy get cut was years ago when goalie Clint Malarchuk took a skate on the neck, horrible!

WARNING! lots of blood!
Dude I saw that one live on TV too! He was Buffalo's goalie when that happened. The fight added alot of confusion.
So Florida's Richard Zednick is recovering well, and the docs say he'll be back on the ice next season.

Jonny, yup, I saw that one live too, missed this one. I remember saying something akin to "holy F@#k!" and having my pops scold me as I was about 17 and livin under his roof. :)

A good day today. I had to squeeze my truck into a tiny back yard (driveway down the side of the house, in between the fence and a couple encroaching trees) and then set up in between the power and phone lines. Once I got in there and got set up, everything went great. Our victim was an old laurel oak which had snapped off at about 15'-18' and almost the whole top was laying on the roof of the house. The roof was tin and very steep so working from the roof was out of the question. I was able to cut and lift out the entire tree one piece at a time. Took about 6 hours and the last 20' of trunk was 28"-36" diameter. The stump cut was over 50".

I don't think the job could have been done any easier or less expensively. To utilize a standard crane from the front yard would have required 150' of stick. Any method of working off the roof would have ended up with more risk of personal injury as well as higher potential for property damage. With my truck lifting off 1000-1200 lb leads one at a time we got the whole thing off the roof with no additional damage whatsoever. There were 2-3 small dents from when the top fell originally but no holes.

And the 60' boom was able to reach everything. No longer am I wishing for an extra 5' of reach on a daily basis. The old truck was good but this one is much better. :D

i picked up a nice job today. its under bid a little but i wanted it, its a nice tall black oak to prune. not very often that i purposly under bid just cause its a nice tree.

Skwerl,
if you still have your camera :), could you post some pictures of the crane part of your truck?

As the weather gets better so does the tree work. I've got two companies that are increasingly needing my skills.
I will be doing a walk thru for the crane job and uploading the picks tomm. Were gonna be using a 100 foot measuring tape to, I guess, measure the size crane needed. This company has 8 pines to slay with a bucket next week as well. The other company has the tree radar and is offering a personal dually truck to drive. I'm trying to get across to both companies that I like to work for myself doing my own stuff, so far they understand but I think eventually I will have to choose 1 master. I am a slave after all to the wood chips that fly, ultimately this is all I am. I pray that both companies will continue to to be so understanding of me doing my own thing. They did not feed me when I cut only one tree last December, I think its most important that I continue to be self reliant.
I would like to say thanks to sawinredneck for keeping me in check and I consider him my mentor at the tree house.
Later today I will be burning a DVD of the UFC fighting championshi 44 to 56 pay per view events and sending the DVD to my Father the retired Gamewarden Once we tracked an outlaw thru 3 counties running steel and conaberry traps totalling over 100 traps , we walked together thru acreas of marajuanna and as a kid done a many of night stakeouts we baited many a night hunter with styofoam deer, we used a license plate 0"s for the eyes. Some night we would run the blue light so long it did melt a few times. After a divorce 4 years ago to a 22 year old I suspect he will be re-marrying another 16 year old soon. He get um young, I cant get my head around it.

Glad you are liking you're truck and it's working out good for you Brian!!

Thats kinda crazy stuff Robert!!!!

THREE DAYS OFF:big-bounce:
Clocked out at 12:15 and turned the company phone OFF!!! I am out of there and not turning it on until Tuesday morning when I go back!!! I need a break!

Sweet Andy, glad your getting some time off. I hated to be on call, you could never plan anything, or drink beer because you might get called in.
:beerchug:

Is that a pet name for him? :P

BOO!!!!!!!

Honestly Mike, I prety much do what I want anyway!! You cannot expect a person to be on call 24hrs a day, seven days a week month after month!!
They call me and I've had a few I show up. It's been brought up by the APM's a cuple of times. My answer, "I've been off the clock x hours, and I do have a life besides this place. Do you want me to fix it, or go back home?"
That has alwy shut them up and they lead me to the machine with the problem!
It would be one thing if it was scheuled on-call, but this is anytime something breaks on-call.
