How'd it go today?

Are you guys talking about your load bangy things again? Great gift. I don't know much about them but I can say that I wasn't to impressed with the savage either. I just couldn't hold a pattern while target shooting. Could've been Uncle Jack that messed that up though.:/:

Managed to figure out that root crown excavations and girdling root pruning took longer than estimated. What's new?

New guy started today. Short term. He got a positive email about a previously disclosed interest in getting on Yosemite Search and Rescue from the NPS HR Department while we were working today. He'll likely head that way in 2 months. I enjoyed hanging out with him. Pretty chill day of grinding the last stump and chiseling roots.

I'm going to be having dinner cooked for me tonight from the looks of it.

Well we are finally done logging for the year, commercial contracts are about caught up, and got to do some fun climbing take downs today. Life is good. Now if i can keep the schedule somewhat full summer should be awesome. I got a lot of catching up to do on my forum reading now. Little ones seem to have doubled in size over winter. Little Oliver is getting into the groove of being my shadow, and baby girl rhiley is finally getting some teeth

A couple days ago my wife brought out a little boy of her friends. The story was that he did not want to take a road trip with his mother. Okay....I guess.

So later in the day he pukes all over the f'ing house. Hmmm.....

Next day young Daniel gets sick...barfs all over hell.

Today I am curled up in the fetal position...sick as hell, chills, sick stomach.....can't eat or drink a flipping thing.

I have an idea that they knew that boy was sick, or at least not feeling well.

I am grouchy as hell about it.

Over 300 people were in attendance at the Rochester Arborist Workshop today. Dead tree slaying badass Graeme McMahon came all the way from Australia to deliver one HELL of a presentation on working with and in compromised trees. I can't say enough about this dude. Got to shake his hand afterwords, really humble, and just amazingly talented. I think of him as one of our living legends. . .

Dr. Kevin T. Smith with the US Forest Service, gave a really fun, spirited rundown on wood strength characteristics, response growth, decay, and failure. This was bookended by some pretty amazing video of Graeme casually slaying 250' trees. . . really cool. Dr. Smith used to work with Alex Shigo.

Bought one of these today.

Just the ticket for splitting cottonwood. Very satisfying.

I bet you generate some serious ft/lbs.

Next time I would recommend a fiberglass handle, nearly indestructible.

I spoke too soon. That was a bitch. I musta split all the easy ones when I got home.

I had shit flying all over hell. That shit dont spit, it rips apart.

Good exercise though I guess.

One of my favorite trees fell down, standing white cotton wood. Figured I should not let it go to waste.

It has a pretty nice steel overstrike protector on it Cory.

No synthetics for this boy;)

I wonder if they are going to be rounding over the edges of that raised central portion of the lower guitar? Looks like you could skin your knuckles as it is. I think it'd look nicer too.

Sure, I'd be happy to do it. Looks like the edge all the way around the guitar could use some rounding over too. Dings don't show up so easily and easier on the hands. It would make for an overall softer appearance too. Looks like maybe Koa wood, not sure. Highly figured...
