How'd it go today?

Got my chipper back last week, one day short of eight weeks.\\:D/ Cost a bit but I can't complain, it's done a bit of work.

Been flat out since catching up on jobs I'd put off, didn't loose any. Had thursday off for Anzac Day but I was stuffed anyway, don't think I could have done much.

Good paying stump grinding job today and booked out for next two weeks.8)

Oohhh...just paid $162 for a new van battery, then $930 to have the alternator removed, fixed, replaced, oil change, oil and fuel filter, belt, labour...labour $100 per hr for the mechanics...think I need to raise my prices.

Palm trees today...that'll pay for the battery...

I had a part time job once rebuilding starters and alternators until the wee hours of the morning. Easy quick when you have the parts and know where to bang when taking them apart. That does seem very pricey.

Mine has a lifetime guarantee. After 4 years or so, it died and I took it back for a new one, no charge. When this one dies, I'll do it again. I can't cypher how they can do that and still turn a profit. I sure wish I could get tires with that type of guarantee!!!

Right about alternators not being built for service, but they mostly do get rebuilt. Exchange for new or rebuilt ones is generally the way it goes. Rebuilding or service requires some equipment that your average garage likely doesn't have. Rebuilt is about as good as new, and generally a lot cheaper.

Pine sap refined is what was used to a large extent to power the Jap Zeros during WW2. The Japanese thought that having limited access to petroleum, but a lot of large Pine trees plus banzai charge, allowed world dominance, but they grossly misjudged. They were wrong about the "cowardly" western forces as well.
