How'd it go today?

Here I thought I was the only one who started out doing jobs for next to nothing, before making a reputation.
Nice to find out that I was not.
By coincidence I had a guy call me yesterday about wrecking a tree on a small island where i haven't been since I was a boyscout some 40+ years ago.

My computer is in the shop ( hence the typos, I'm writing on a borrowed, totally unfamiliar keyboard:whine:) so he came to my house to show me pictures of the tree.
I figured me and Richard could do it in a short day, so I charged him for a day + a ferry ticket.
We'll do it on a saturday, bring the wives, kids and assorted dogs and enjoy the remains of the day at the island.

I got to fly a bucket doing some roof clearance. Easy money. I've never seen a house so covered up in live oak. It should have had this done 25 years ago!

Jay, good luck with that tree.

Stig, sounds like a nice job/day.

My Vermeer guy stopped by and dropped this off this afternoon.:D

Good luck with the tree Jay!

Nice mini man!! Way to go!

Dad and I checked out a 2008 VW GTI today, pretty sweet car. Had an interesting time driving it when it was my turn lol, stalled it out a few times getting the hang of it, clutch is a lot tighter than the one in our big chip truck. Once I figured out what RPM's I needed and got a feel for it, it got better, but I still have a long way to go.

The best part about owning a standard is that nobody will want to borrow your car. You'll be driving it like a pro in no time.

Yep lol, not that many people can drive a standard anymore. Kinda sad.

Dad said I should get the hang of it fairly quickly. I really only have trouble with first and starting from a stop on hills.

I had not driven a standard car in years till Brian brought the Stang up for a spin. Man I am still grinning like a fool about that go pedal!
It was a sad day when ford quit offering the 6 speed manual in the super duties.

Thanks Adrian. I'm surprised at the power it has. Moved around some chips, dirt, and a couple old trees with it. Started getting a little smoother on the controls and it got dark on me. After running it for a bit I'm glad I chose the 650 instead of spending the bucks for the 800.

I love having a standard shift car, hills aren't bad once you know where the clutch engages.

Shift cars are cool, until you want to relax. All I have are sticks, I was hoping the new pickup was going to be auto but another 6 speed found me. Damn!

Sounds like a nice day coming up Stig.

I can't wait to see the pics and hear how it all went down Jay. Be safe man.

Nice mini Dave!

Not much of a day today. Pruned two apples and a plum. Lifted a small black walnut. Lilly got to come along. Had those all done in a couple hours and dropped Lilly and the chipper back at the house since we were literally right up the street. Took some mistletoe out of 80 foot tall valley oak I have been in before doing the same. She never really has me prune it other than just remove mistletoe. Got to use the FS Dave (Wiley) made for me. Wraptor ride to the top on one leader... snip snip... rap down... Wraptor ride to the top of the other leader... snip snip.. down again. Quick money. Took a look at the clients other trees for more of the same. She never showed so now I have to call her and get her scheduled. Not going to climb & charge her for 5 trees when I was only expected to do one. Had a meeting with a new client right up the road from there and the client told a neighbour (another client) they had an emergency with a dog and had to run to Stanford. So I looked at that property so I had an idea what I was getting into prior to chatting with them again and sold the other client a couple days this year  So not a wasted trip.
