How'd it go today?

Note to self, Stop watching the weather! Decided not to go out on a job today, as they predicted sever thunder storms and down pours. I think I felt a drizzle and even saw sun instead.

Went to the Stihl/JD dealer this morning. Got filters for the chipper, changed the oil and fuel filter. Picked up some parts for a Stihl FS80 I saved from the dumpster. Just needed a primer bulb and molded fuel line/filter. Picked up a trimmer head for it as I needed a string trimmer for the house and it's a brush cutter. So for $40 I have a nice string trimmer/brush cutter.

Not sure where the rest of the day went, split some wood and moved some logs. I really need to get it's own engine on that splitter, I hate running it off the mini. Ahhh, everything costs to much money. :|:

Worked out on a property with a pond today on that bullet tree and another blue oak. Pretty, but humid.
The 9/16ths rope showed up yesterday afternoon so I stopped off at the hardware store to get a tub for it.
The HO's I worked on today and yesterday scheduled a very dead oak TD. Big ol gray pine next to it, so we should be able to crane the limbs up out off the steep bank it is on and land them in a road. I'll have a good high TIP as well.. Should be fun :)

.Oh just some more on the ash trees . I wasn't kidding about a truck load of bark .It's nearly full and I have 4 more to pick up from .

Put deer proof fence up around my neighbour's vegetable garden today.
Gotta keep Bambi out of the victuals!

Some fresh backstrap of Bambi would go nicely with the fruits of today's venture, fresh picked corn. A farmer I knew was giving it away, so I took some friends from church back to his place, and gathered some to put up for the Winter, and to carry to a couple of friends in Norfolk tomorrow, when I head back down there.

Ran data and phone cables through ceiling of an office, with drops through the walls, terminated under each desk for a friend this morning.
This afternoon lowered out about half of a large hazardous silver maple over a childrens' playground at a day care facility.
Will finish that tomorrow, so it is safe for Monday morning kidlets...

Finally got the last of the mess cleaned up from the ash trees .I'm glad the rest of them are in the woods where I didn't have to be so praticular .

I wonder if there is any market for bark, got plenty .

Then there's stump with big old butress roots .Took me over half a tank of gas and a refile job before I got this one .I was going to splice it with the old Mac gear drive but the damned thing had sat too long now I have to work on the oiler .

Still working away here. Starting to look spotty for next week though. Gotta start to think of some idears for hustling up work. My debt load keeps me highly motivated though so I'm not really worried. Lol!

Worked 10 hrs today, I'm usually an 8 hr kinda guy so it was out of the ordinary. Took down a load of smaller stuff, maybe 8"-10", a super dead Birch, and trimmed some others. Haul chips and a nice load of wood.

Cut my grass afterwards, and unloaded the wood. Woo hoo. Looked at a small job for tomorrow morning, and here I am.

Nice saw!

Man Im in a foul mood. The Mrs took our son to see a specialist at the local hospital because of an issue he has. Because we dont have insurance she asked them up front how much it would be if we paid up front in cash and was told $240 for the 15 minute consult. We just got a bill from the hospital for $448, the $240 was for the doctor not the hospital:what:

What really pisses me off is if they told us it would be $688 we would have found alternative options. I really want to go knock on that doctors door and tell him how I feel about their service but the Mrs. says NO:X

There should be other ways to dispute the bill, besides confronting the doctor, and possibly even the hospital. Is there a telephone number or address on the bill for enquiries? How much do you want to get into it? Things like complaining to the physician licensing agency in the state. Reading on the web, the full charges to non-insured patients is something that is being more and more addressed by law makers and advocacy agencies. Lots of unfairness and over charging going on. Sometimes unintentional mistakes, as well.

I recall Brian having some experience in this area.

Finished that pumpkin of an oak today .... Whew ... did that feel good. Guess I'll work on posting some pics in a bit..
Ran into my friendly competition today at the market on the way to work. I guess they were taking down a 5' DBH X 90' high gray pine and the crane guy that showed up for the job that they have used for a long time, walked (drove) away after freaking out over the picks he was taking.
Andy was cutting the tops out (probably 300 #) and catching them with a block. Then lowering them to the boom for the crane to take. Boom could just not reach them. So the crane (17 ton? I think he said... or maybe 24 (my guess) ) had his boom almost vertical for the pics lowered to it. Sounds goofy and I think the operator was just having one of "his" days. Andy ain't gonna use him again.. We do not have a lot of options up here. I guess he is looking down in the valley for someone with a bigger crane anyway. Nutz and better him than me.
Taking the next two days off to get some odd shat done and stuff around the house. Been a good week. Get this billing done :)

The first bill you get from the hospital is just a bluff, a fishing expedition. If a certain percentage of patients pay the initial, inflated bill then the hospital can afford to cover expenses for all the people who don't pay anything. Call them up and tell them that you want to pay the bill, right now, in cash, but not the inflated full retail rate. Tell them to give you a number you can pay and you'll pay it today. Stick to your guns until they cut the bill by at least half. Then do the same thing with the doctor's bill. They are separate entities and one is not related to the other.

Yes mine,'77 with a 300 and C4 .I think around 260 thousand miles .It's kind of retired to the property,I don't even have tags on the old battle wagon . It runs on 4 5 or 6 depending on its mood .

Skwerl, we paid up front for the doctors bill and thought we had paid the whole bill, only to be hit with another one for twice the amount. what really pisses me off is they basically lied to us as we wanted to pay for everything up front, no surprises....
