    How'd it go today?

Speaking of vigilance, the other day we were tipping a fat fir spar into a bit of a tight lay. The stump was on the top of a 10 ft slope that led to a neighbours fence and a telephone pole, so we took the step of getting the rigging ready to hold the spar to the stump. Then we made a round of...

    How'd it go today?

I booked a couple of days work today and will put a bid to remove one of the biggest lombardies I've ever seen. Thing was probably 9-10 ft dbh!! Yesterday wore me out, it was 100 degrees in the shade and we spent a healthy chunk of the day chipping...made a good week a great week but I sure wish...

The heat just doesn't quite seems as bad after being in Vegas for a couple of days, which is nice cuz it normally wears me right out. I am still, however, drying out from the weekend so today I was glad to be able to have an early start and get the most out of the workday by 1. 3 fir to...

Just taking it easy today, then back at it tomorrow. Just got back from a 2 night stay Vegas for some of my buddies bachelor party. That town is nuts! We had a blast, but back to reality tomorrow.

Just caught up a little here, take care of yerself Chris. Thats a scary situation. I fell about that distance once when in my first SRT stages, but no damage other than some rope burn on my pinky. Glad you're ok, man.

Took the kindergartener to school this am, registered and insured my chipper...oh it's so nice to be able to say that. Looked at and landed a few smaller jobs. And then I went and got about 26 signatures from people in my community for a community garden I've been planning with some other like...

I prefer saw pants, too. Though they suck ballz when it gets hot...but pretty much anything you do during the heat of the day sucks unless you are napping in the shade, swimming in a lake or chillin on a patio with a cold drink! I usually take a pair of shorts with me in the heat and change...

    How'd it go today?

Good stories, all! I've had a blissful last couple of weeks monkeying around on the HH, but I feel the need to really dog down and kill some trees...must be the last 2 days of walnut pruning. Those trees force a zen outta you, or you just end up feeling like the world is ending. One actually...

    How'd it go today?

Oh, boy! I've got a couple of estimates to look at this am. Just wrapping up a proposal for the property manager of a large mall here in town. Around 75 lil trees to train and subordinate about 30 freeman maples. Those things are like ticking time bombs. Its beginning to look a lot like...

Sorry to hear of your loss, Sean. Sound like he was a character. I'm home today, researching chippers and such. I also need to upgrade my pickup at some point. Ugh.

Wrecked a stout pine today...another to do tomorrow. The limbs on this thing were kinda fun, tip tied and swung about 120 degrees to the landing and then lowered. Don't you notice when you do the cool jobs the camera gets left behind!

Woke up this morning...and the belly was rumbling. Needless to say, managing to get my kids to daycare and school without an 'accident' was a minor miracle. I am gonna drink some tea and wait this thing out. Last time I felt like this was high school!

Nice work, Nick. That is a different tree fo sho! Sometimes I momentarily feel guilty about the prices I charge as well because at times it seems the work is easy, and then I remember that its only easy because I've poured plenty of blood, sweat and tears into learning this trade. That and 95%...

Money is money, yo. I'd rather work than have someone else do it. If I can turn a profit doing boring azz stumps, I will.

    How'd it go today?

3 lil Firs slayed and a few estimates done today. I tried to line up a stumpgrinder to rent for Thursday, but the guy I rent it from tried to tell me that I damaged his trailer the last time I rented it and should pay for the damages. The kicker: it was 2 months ago that I rented it last and I...

    How'd it go today?

I work with a contractor who runs his own show...has a little crane truck and all. He's fifty, has worked with me for a year and another fairly advanced climber the year previous. Last week, I was up in the top of a dead spruce and asked for him to tie on a pull line. TWICE did the line come...
