Tree felling vids

I had a car at my office one time that was blocking some work we needed to do. I learned that a forklift moves a car really nicely. The teenage hired help almost went crazy but it was funny when it was over.

I was in Cincinnati at a softball tournament, we were all drunk, and when one guy tapped out we popped the clutch on his jeep and moved it wayyyyyyy away. Thankfully someone remembered before the cops showed up the next day lol. I think that was the year they woke me up by folding my mattress up like a taco, with me in it, and dumped me out on the sidewalk.... ahhh the good times!!!

I've done that one too, Gary. Yup, a forklift is a good thing to have in your back pocket, now and then :).
As long as it's on a hard paved surface. Last week we did a bunch of big cottonweeds. I had the logs decked up for pick up and this kid from across the street asked my customer if he could have it all, the deck was 12'x6'x25', he shows up with a forklift and proceeds to sink it thru the customers driveway not once but four times. Not my problem it's gone now. Oh and he was loading a 7k lb car hauler with a half ton pulling it. I have no idea how he was able to steer it home.

Went well. Home owner talked to the neighbor and the crane op and I reassured her in the morning that she would be fine. Only one out of 31 called to complain about not having power. I did have someone set slings for me on most of the brush picks. 1000’ feet of ascent yesterday left me a bit tuckered out for chasing the pill. Guys did awesome on the ground. Had power restored in 3&1/2 hours

Ya know how Jed has frequently, afaik, railed against millennials and their, idk, ways?

This kid is a perfectly competent tree guy but holy chit, give a millennial a go pro and the result can be highly annoying. And wtf, he starts off the vid with his personal endorsement for an anti baldness cure? Holy chit, @Jed, I"m with ya.

Is the kid making big bucks for the ad? If so, more power to him. But that was embarrassing. And who TF would say, hmm, this kid has nice hair, is a good climber, and is counciling me against the scourge of baldness..... I'm in! Who do I give my CC to??

U.K. Rich: Sorry mate, I still haven’t Figured out the multi quote thing yet.:|:

I think that Jake has been climbing for about seven years. Something like that.

That figures.

My interprtation of him is he has some decent cutting skills but the way he tries to instruct in the videos comes across as someone trying to appear more skilled than they are.

Millennials or the exuberance of youth. IDK.

The kid has 118k subscribers, 86k more than Reg. Go Figure!?!?!

And August with 74k. I would have figured AH would be #1 in terms of subscribers due to his volume and fairly early involvement in the arena of tree vids

He posted a vid/photo of himself in an ‘anti socialism’ T-shirt, in B/W, usual stuff.

Got a bit of stick for it, posted a vid saying how he just wanted to inspire, and that even though he still believed in ‘Muh Freedom’ he would lay off the political stuff, brought up that he was an ex-boozer as well, it was like a contestant on X-factor.

If he and others are making some decent money off of their tree vids, then absolutely more power to them. If they are making little to nothing but just feel compelled to tell the world their perspective, that is boring AF.

Nothing to figure as far as I can see. He is producing cool vids (albeit a bit long IMO) for the cool kids. He has got a good formula going, what he films works for his target audience...

He is producing cool vids.. for the cool kids.

yeah that probably says it all.

I mean I guess? How could Reg have so many fewer subscribers, his tree vids imo are more or less #1 overall, by a mile?

I totally agree.

It is the case a lot of the time these days. Quality treework doesn’t get the recognition it deserves IMO. But make it flashy and Augusty and Treesony and the kids love it.

Like when I pointed out the Alaskan fishing site on Facebook to Reg. Reg’s video had 10’sof thousands of views via his YouTube channel, yet at one point it had been viewed 95million times via the Facebook page.

The owner of the content gets jack shit for that.

Dunno. If I made videos, I'd disable ads if possible, and I'd try to use another platform than youtube. Throw a [Donate] button up, and hope for the best. It would also be under a copyleft license. People should be able to use and remix as desired. All hypothetical of course. I don't particularly enjoy videos, and for something like treework, dicking around with gear is a distraction, and a nuisance.
