I thought we use to have a thread for felling vids.
It would be fun to just get to dump em over the side like this.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/45RDZ3owtvY&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/45RDZ3owtvY&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Cool video, especially when they go end over end off that edge. But that guy was making some REALLY bad notches and back cuts. :O Poor form indeed. :(

He's knows what he's doing, trust me I was filming.

Tree felling African style:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/MPUD6-BJHbM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/MPUD6-BJHbM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Luxembourgian style: (Felling a tree with chainsaw then tree is falling)

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kgKLPoUnm6M&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kgKLPoUnm6M&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Really good single-stem heli-logging vid from Vancouver Island

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/iae7xtEcJkU&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/iae7xtEcJkU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I've got a video coming of the tree in the pic.

I like it Reddog! He gets the tree on the ground, and not five seconds later is looking for the next victim.

Cool videos, Red. Although I had to turn off the African guy, annoying damn habit of constantly blipping the throttle in the cut instead of just holding it full throttle. No wonder his saw was bogging.

Those notches and cuts in the first vid looked pretty damn good to me. But then I'm not a logger so who knows? :?

Yeah, what the heck was going on there? If you put a saw to it, why stop and get an axe, or was that a splitting maul?

This one shows limbing pretty well.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/TwWOkJ_A6vI&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TwWOkJ_A6vI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

This one shows felling with a short bar.

Nice vids, Gord! Those were some bohungus tops. You ever get an undercut started and see nothing but bug dust come out? Like those ceders.

That single-stem vid isn't mine Jerry, but I sure have ran into some rotten ones...never a good feeling, start the cut and poof! wow my saw sure cuts fast..!

WTF are you talkin' about??? This ain't Tree Buzz Brett...

The constant overcritiquing of every single aspect of a fallin' and tree cuttin' operation gets tiresome... :what:

Pack you butt up on those hill sides and bang some wedges yourself... That was a great fallin' job!

I have a question regarding that video.
On a couple of the trees the faller cut them very high, leaving extremely ( at least to my eye) high stumps. Is there a reason for that?
In Switzerland they'll sometimes leave stumps like that, to help agains avalanches until the forest has regrown, but that didn't seem to be the case here, since it wasn't done on all the trees.
