How'd it go today?

I'd keep a pair of hot gloves behind the seat, Brian. A hangun case is good to store them in.
 
No camera today, but she was wearing black sweat pants, a very tight gray t shirt and white running shoes (size 7 I'd guess). About 5'3", 110 lbs, 34C, dark brown shoulder length hair in a pony tail. At first I thought she was an aerobics instructor but the company owner told me she was a stunt woman. I never got a chance to speak with her until I was leaving, when she thanked me for the work I did. The one time she came out to watch what was going on for 15 minutes, production dropped by about 2/3 speed.
 
I'm screwing around with primaries right now too, no fires though... I think that would freak my ass out, first time anyway.

Lifted a torn out hackberry off a workshop and setup a highline for working a super sketchy ash tomorrow. No choice but to climb the central leader and remove most of it... which is over a huge hollowed bole where the REAL central leader used to be.

The tree is live and healthy except for this one leader... which arcs over the house, a historic one naturally. The tree is in contact with primaries to the West, service is to the North pretty much in the tree as well, house is 25' to the East with a tiny little LZ to the South. The best highline I could get is still well below where I'll be standing to make the top cuts. Thin... I'm not happy about this one. I'm banking hard on the fact that it's live ash and really strong, no way I'd try it on a maple or even an oak. I shot iphone video of the hollow but I don't know how to put it online yet.

I'm in a similar boat, B. I'm looking at going back to school in the spring to complete a Bachelors. Job leads have all but started drying up, I don't have AWS certs, I don't have a Journeyman's card, and I don't have any sort of HVAC/EPA certs. I've got exposure and experience in the trades, just no licenses to correspond with the education. To companies, I'm just another jobless bum with an Associate's Degree. I'm looking at a MET (Mechanical Engineering Technologies) degree, and possibly a minor in Nuclear Engineering... it's a lot to think about.
 
I think I think that B is talking about the other guy trying to find another job, but perhaps I'm mistaken.

I made a hinged piece of plywood to contain chips while stump grinding, worked quite well considering. Ground a buncha lil stumps using it, then gave 2 bids. Got one while I was there, the other is supposed to call tonight and lemme know. 8)
 
How was my day.... Hmmmmmm
Two words come to mind first.. Bloody and Painful. Orange trees. One prune and one kill..
I also had my pole saw roll into a pond and take in mud and water... Guess what I will be doing tomorrow???:roll:
Up side was I got paid for all of last week and today as of today... Money felt good....;)

TG I did not have to chip that shat!
 
More work on the addition today .I amazed the framer and cut out a header with a Stihl 200T . Couldn't get into it with a sawzall .:D
 
First day with the new guy today. It went well, he's got a good head on his shoulders and eager to work. I'm envisioning a day in the not to distant future where I don't do all of the cutting.

Hey Al .. I used my 200 t to make a window from the kitchen to the living room when we put in the house.. I envisioned a wet bar once the kids get older :D
 
Erik cut a couch in half with his 346, just to break it in, in the living room.:lol:

I did a stumpgrinding job today. Had to cut them with a chainsaw and didn't think to bring extra chains for the 660 and 046. Dead and dry eucalyptus wood. Ended up going to get a new chain at the nearest town and they didn't have any .404 chain. So I had to go home anyway. Took me couple hours to get back to the job.
