How'd it go today?

I couldn’t get the nut to stick welding to the top of the stripped bolt…. Realized that it was not a broken bolt but an Allen key bolt filled w paint and grease.. so I stripped that after a few cycles of heat and 3:1…. Then I welded the Allen key to the bolt and I was extremely surprised the weld held and the bolt came out. I was happy. Usually I just trash shit and buy new ones…. The heavens have accepted me.

The R Stamp certifies the contractors ability to repair and alter boilers, pressure vessels, pipe and other related equipment. It is a mark of quality and compliance with the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (NBBI), confirming their ability to safely and effectively perform repairs.

Copied and pasted from Al Gore’s amazing internet, kinda.

Finding parts fir the 4Runner is proving to be a pain in the ass. Door tag says it has a 7.5", 4.10/1, two pinion differential. The actual diff appears to be an 8", 4.10/1, four pinion differential. :?

Levi's Birthday yesterday. So I made his fav, mac and cheese and bought a pie. Was going to ask Kave over too after inquiring when Levi got home. Seemed Levi was running late as he was going to take his bike out for a ride. I guess up to Shaver Lake. Well, got a call after Katy and I finally gave up waiting and ate dinner. Bike had broke down. Almost two hours from us. So I went, fetched him and the bike. Not a great way to have a birthday. Home safe is good though :)
He'll have to open his cards and gifts later.

Went on an adventure with Levi, to find the Lone Sequoia the trail is named after. That took 20 minutes. Then we walked straight to the road. You can drive up to about 30 yards from it. IMG_20260108_131344328_HDR.jpg

Got a few closer pics, but the undergrowth is so dense, photography is difficult.

Then, Levi decided that we should drive up to Pilot Peak. This decision proved unwise. Which served to wisen the lad up some. After a cedar snag had an accident, and the spinning tire was used as a capstan, and five hours of playing in the mud, we got out. Despite being severely under equipped, we proved that we indeed were not.

Have chainsaw,(and rope!) can travel.

Speaking of, I head off to AZ tomorrow to visit the kiddos for a week!

Glad you were with him. A resource in yourself of how to mitigate and cure the situation.
I'm glad I was with him too! He's a fine friend to have on the trail! No negativity, no bad mood, just high spirits at every inch of progress, determination and a good attitude. Definitely a day of Type 2 Fun, the kind that's fun after the fact, even if not in the moment.

Now he has a few more tools in his box, more tricks in the bag, and another win on the board. Thank goodness my dad loved playing "Pavement Is Lava", and I got to learn from his mistakes. I'm only so good at getting unstuck, because I used to be really good at getting stuck, and so we're all my friends.

PS, TRAINZ! IZ AWESOME!
