How'd it go today?

IMG_1949.jpeg

Five very dry, dead ash trees dropped for a friend (older fellow). Every tree had to be rigged to pull them over.

I could tell he wasn’t up to winching the last one over as it had a good bit of back lean and took some work to get it over center. My bar just started binding in the back cut, so I left a substantial hinge and hiked around and up the hill to crank on the Come-a-Long to finish it off. He videoed as I cranked. Glad it was drop and leave - cleanup would have been a mess. 9am to noon.

Dropping the last of five dead ash trees.

Well, the battery is a crappy deal. I have a battery that will start the mill, but I'll have to plug the tractor in to the mill to run the hydraulics. I don't think the mill battery is coming back from 5.46 volts.

My dad, almost 93, took a fall Sunday night. Went and got my mom and took her to him at the hospital. Broke his hip. Couple days of exhaustion and trying to balance a 2hr trip to the hospital and work. They scheduled him for surgery today and we are down here together. Mom can't drive at night. Hoping for the best out come. Age and surgery dont always play well together. Cross your fingers

He's out of recovery, awake and talking to mom. Guess all went well. Never contacted us after recovery, he just fell off the screen of patient progress. Gives your heart a jump. Thinking might have to visit the basement. Normally you at least get a text. Tripped on up to his prior room and found out he was on the next floor up.

I was reminded today that I despise working in the snow. Only 4 inches but that’s enough for me. Spent the day chasing dead wood in two large trees. Then got a start on a large maple reduction.
We got 12” over the weekend and another 1.5” this morning. I’ll take the 4”. lol

Wishing him a good recovery, Stephen.

When my mom was in the hospital une general A, she was feeling post- A confusion a bit, more at times especially after wakng up, several days in.

A whiteboard helped us : where she was, specifically when she would see me next ( between 8-10a, not earlier than 11am) and a message to call anytime with my phone number (for an aide/ therapist to dial on the land line). Fwiw.

I was having some trouble with an injector after reassembling the Kubota. Japanese fuel systems are pretty primitive compared to today's common rail stuff, so I decided to take a chance and clean the injector. I'm not sure exactly what I cleaned out of it, but I ran for an hour with no skipping.
