How'd it go today?

Throw any spare parts behind the barn when nobody is looking.
this is the way!

even worse when I remember taking a part off but not where it goes back on, then realize after reassembly that I gotta pull everything apart again
cleaned the carb on my mower, re install it and notice the throttle is super stuck, I forgot the gasket between the head and the carb, doh

We finished it and I’m still alive! Thankfully day 2 was crane work. Had the young guy do the climbing portion and I did the rest with the bucket. Interesting tree, probably less than 100 years old, 1/2”-3/4” rings. The cavity went all the way to the ground but was filled to half way with debris. Last piece was 11,000lbs, I thought I would be heavier. IMG_6079.jpeg IMG_6081.jpeg IMG_6082.jpeg

just had yet another person do stupid stuff in traffic and almost offed themselves with the front end of my truck

turning right on red, every car to my left is turning right, its clear for me to go, I get going, most of the way across the lane I'm turning into (tight intersection, big truck, but still 100% in my lane) and this car gets in the left lane to fly around the turning cars, changes lane mid intersection and lays on their horn trying to get me to just stop I guess, small problem is, I was 100% legally and safely turning, and this lady had to do some wildly illegal stuff to get to where she was, then got mad at me

people these days, I seriously wish EVERYONE had to drive a big truck in traffic before they can get their license

found a set of rims and almost new 315 steers for my truck for $150, but they are 4 hours away, might be going to get those when I get a chance

busy schedule all the sudden, went from almost no calls to multiple jobs a day in the span of one weekend!

I usually do that when I put everything back together tight because it's never going to need to come apart again...

None ya bidness, ya kind hearted stud.

13, EEEE

Looking at some Danners that might be pretty sweet. 365 day guarantee. Only $60 more than the Georgias I got a while back and are already falling apart.

Remember when I said some of the folks here have multimillion dollar operations and some of us glue our boots back together? Well, the dadgummed glue gave up.

Steel toes never fit my flipper shaped feet, bought a pair of Carolinas off Facebook marketplace for $40, can't wear them, my toes don't fit in the coffin. Misery dipped in shit.

The saga of the shoes continues... 🤣
Danners seemed narrow when I tried them.

How about Keen. I wear Pittsburgh model in wide (steel toe).

I rarely wear my Hiax, never wear my Wescos.

Pole purs at 195# without gear is fine.

I'm on my second pair of Danner winter boots. Very happy with them. Coming up on two years with my Chippewas. They look the same as new, which is impressive. Usually at two years my foot sticks out the side like Flintstone shoes. These are EEE. I have a high instep, or high top foot, as my older sister calls it. Historically near impossible to find shoes.

its taking some getting used to, sure feels a LOT more tippy than a mini skid, difflock is very handy but turf tires don't have much traction in mud so it'll get stuck kinda easy, but you can walk yourself out with the bucket and turning back and forth just fine

tele is cool, but after putting about 5 hours on it today cleaning up stuff around the house, I see zero need for it, I'm sure I will want it occasionally at work to reach up to retaining walls and stuff, but we don't encounter much here that I'd need that extra reach

already took the left door and both mirrors off, the GiAnt mirrors SUCK and are a total waste of money, can't adjust the friction on them and they are so loose that they will move just from the vibration at idle, and I hit my head on the left mirror maybe 15 times today just getting on and off

trailer hitch is a really nice pin and ball setup, machine doesn't like to climb steep hills but I can make due, self leveling is way different on the non tele as you can curl back and still boom down, the tele is hydraulic self leveling (I think) and won't let you boom down unless you curl off the stop at the back (atleast on my demo), but I do believe it lets you curl back farther as the boom goes up unlike mine, I can barely curl the plate back past vertical even boomed up to max reach, hydraulics aren't super fast even if you stand on the throttle, but honestly I think that might be a good thing to stop the operator from getting too crazy, especially around employees near the attachment

non tele also doesn't have buttons on the joystick for the aux hydraulics so you have to move your hand, not a huge deal IMO, backup alarm got unplugged less than 5 minutes after getting the machine home

A mini is too useful. Those things are just for comfort and a bit more reach. I would prefer the minis have a slightly higher front wheel to rest on with heavier loads, so you have the track surface area of 2 wheels per side instead of 1.

totally different animal, totally different way of working, I ran a mini skid for 2 years all day every day and the 2 can hardly be compared

I find a mini to be more comfortable, and better at rugged offroad, however for most all the work we do, a loader will run circles around a mini, I've had both working next to eachother on the same tree and the difference is laughable

still love mini skids, will probably buy another one tho

Nice, just lose the mirrors though, they’ll just get smashed.
