How'd it go today?

It’s just science…temp = expansion and contraction. When I first started messing with saws I heard talk about splitting cases, interference fits, it’s tricky, special tools, etc. Most saw shops won’t, say it’s not worth the labor. I can split and reassemble cases and cranks on the floor of my workshop in my pajamas with a couple chunks of bronze and a pink hairdryer with my work background. 😆

(Good way to get into nice saws cheap - saw shop boneyard)

well, got that maple cleaned up yesterday, and took down 2 storm damaged white pines today

Considered a mini, but a full size skid was the same price and less lawn damage (many, many less trips on the lawn, I believe the same or even lower ground pressure than a mini)

first time in any CAT equipment, that 259 is actually a really nice machine, but the visibility is horrendous compared to any other skid I've ran, cab is also made for little people

What's the point of using tools if they don't work properly? I'm having a lot of difficulty getting wood cut at the correct angle. First it was the circular saw not cutting straight even against a guide. Turns out the side of the plate wasn't made parallel to the blade. So I guide it off the other side, and though I've meticulously squared the blade to the plate, it still cuts a few degrees off. Even the table saw gives me trouble after zeroing the angle indicators, and spending several minutes ensuring a successful cut. I'll have to see if the guide rail slots are crooked.
