How'd it go today?

Well I fired up the old chipper this afternoon and ran it awhile. Adjusted in the the new carb and she purred like a kitten. Chipped a little brush, it then started sputtering for a moment then died. Won't start now, it's getting fuel but the spark is real weak yellow in color. The coil is very hot, so either the coil went belly up or the ignition module went out....:X

Well it's alive and running great, I replaced the ignition module, the coil and ballast resistor. Went and chipped a small brush pile. Things all worked as they should.

Now if it will just stop raining, we had almost 6 inch's in the rain gauge earlier. I dumped that out and it's pouring out as I type this.

Hope we don't get hit like that. We end up just working through it unless there is lightning. Strongly dislike working in the rain.

You weren't working here most of the day! Windy, HEAVY rain and lots of lightning! One cel moved out and twenty min. later another one moved in, it started good at 3am here, went strong until 2. Dave (DTW) lives about 60 miles East of me, thats how slow this thing is moving.

Went out and kicked some stump ass, the bolt that holds the fan broke, but the shaft stayed in till I was headed to the trailer. $1 fix, got a $50 tip.

Had an awesome day today. Took out a fat old spruce right beside a house. Literally the stump had encompassed part of the foundation and the roof overhang had been cut away to accomadate the tree. About 34"dbh, I should soon have some pics to scan we finished off my uncles roll of film today.8)

I just don't get it.They must think the danged tree will quit growing because the put a building there . I've cut quite a few right next to a foundation .Rocked chain a certainty .:(

Only the root flare was onto the foundation so I didn't have to sacrifice any chain. Just above it I had enough clearance to cut without hitting the house.

I've jambed plywood between the tree and foundation and bore cut the back cut but some times you can't trip them straight away like that .

You can also make a vertical cut parallel with the house down to the level where you make the stump cut, and then bring your stump cut to the vertical cut, leaving the sliver of wood closest to the house.

I use this method on fencerow stump cuts as well.

A previously topped, completely grown back, never trimmed since live oak KICKED MY ASS today, trimming it.

Lordy.

Damn! I just got a message on my phone this afternoon from the property owner of the place that I got really bad PI on last year. He wants me to come back.:(

Skwishey, it's OK to say no. :)

Or bid it for the 4-5 days you will be in pain from the PI on top of whatever time the job will take.

I'm having to learn to say no. I'm booking well into October. I made good money working for this guy before, real decent. He's a call back so he's probably going to just want me to go in and day rate it. I'll thunk it over, does PI die off in the cold?

Today we removed most of a cottonwood that would have been a great bucket truck job. Why I go the job is beyond me. If I was a little busier I would have referred them to one of my friends who has a bucket. As is, I was climbing above cavities formed at the old topping cuts. I never care much for that but bills have to be payed. Tomorrow I finish the last spar and then deadwood two smaller cottonwoods.

Squisher....PI does NOT die off in cold. It does however calm down a bit as the juices are not flowing at as great a rate through the plant, and urushiol seems not to get spread as easy.

I chipped a small pile of almond brush and trimmed a couple of small queen anne palms. Hauled some firewood for the neighbor. Starting on a fairly large job tomorrow.

Thought I was over this sick crap, but apparently not. Struggled to stay awake in 2 classes today, and was coughing all day, along with a stomach ache. Came home, and hit the sack for 4 hours, which is unusual for me. So no school tomorrow. Going to rest and go see the doc and see what he says. Hoping it's just a cold, and nothing serious.
