How'd it go today?

That webpage is fantastic! No bullshit, just stuff you want to see. I miss the old web. It usually wasn't as pretty, but it succeeded in the core function of efficiently transmitting information.
 
loaded the truck with black walnut, little bits of hickory, oak and maple to get rid of, loose ish load but loaded to the top, headed over to the landfill to weigh it, 20,540#
the way it stops I was thinking more like 35-40K like that one time that I misjudged the density of decomposed chips, guess I gotta get it in the shop and tear into the brake system, no air between the master and calipers, feels like maybe air in the hydroboost system, can't lock the tires up with the pedal hard against the stop in the master cylinder
 
ended up messing up my mig torch, ran out of solid wire so I'm attempting to flux core this and its just not welding worth a crap, something about this wire and the C channel I bought, gonna have to stick or tig the rest I think

TIG overhead will be interesting, haven't tried that yet, going to have to make a big wind barrier, also this steel has been sitting on the ground for over a year so its so magnetic to the point you can't even get 6011 or 7018 to light up, just fizzles and jumps around, always the simple 30 minute projects that take a week

Helped Mike on a walnut removal today. Wasn't much of a tree, but there was a lot of hassle for him. *Tons* of vines, in wires, over two fences, over a shed, and some of it dead. He did good job with it. I only have a before shot he sent me. I didn't take any pics myself.

Pushed snow until the hydraulics started getting jerky. It's got a leak on a backhoe cylinder. Then I worked in the garage cleaning and organizing until my fingers froze. Overall, not a very exciting day, so far.
 
If you switched to flux core, you will need to change polarity.
done that, this wire is just shit

ended up taking my bottle of 100% argon for the tig machine and setting the MIG machine up with it, told the machine I was running hard wire but kept me settings from flux core, and it ran excelent, the argon helps with creating an arc, ran more of a spray transfer and it came out almost as good as hard wire MIG woulda


no big fairlead to lift stuff onto the feed tray, got in the way with machine feeding and I didn't have enough steel laying around to make a nice one, had to weld in the rain and zapped the piss out of myself, always fun
I always want to do more fab work, till I do more fab work, then I end up in a mental state that words cannot describe, also always impress myself with how far I can throw tools once I reach that state

You wouldn't think trying to find coherent instructions for cooking old fashioned oats would give you a stroke, but it will. All I can say is two cups water to one cup oats only works if you want to simmer the oats for five business days. On the flip side, once I poured almost a cup of water out, they were the tenderest oats I've ever eaten. I added cinnamon and raisins, as per usual.
 
I forget how I cook rolled oats. I think I used quick oats, but cooked them per minute oat instructions. Left the oats chewier which I prefer.

Now, I pretty much only make steel cut oats. Half cup of oats, and 1.5 cups water. The water is .5C short of published directions. Leaves the oats chewier. Butter and salt is all I put in it.

On the rolled oats, it might've been old fashioned oats with quick oat instructions. Been quite a few years since I made that. I know I used the faster method on slower oats, whichever it was.

2 scoops plain whey protein isolate, 2 handfuls of Quaker old fashioned oats, a couple tablespoons of chia seeds, 1/8 stick of butter, and real maple syrup to taste. Add water visually and 2 minutes in the microwave. That has great protein, fiber, fat, and carbs to go hard for 5 + hours.
 
I put frozen sweet and sour cherries, blueberries, and strawberrys on the bottom. Old fashioned oats and milk just to under surface. 2 minutes on high. Scrape oats off side of bowl towards center. 1 minute on high watching the last 20 seconds to make sure it doesn't boil over. Add Greek yogurt on top. Some ground walnuts and sour cherry concentrate for topping. Delicious. Almost every morning for years.
