Long ass day today. Started early stacking the logs from my mishap yesterday (about 40 of them, most 14 - 18"), and got them on top of the chestnut oaks I snagged last month). Reattached the one screw on the gutter. Then spent an hour looking at my place and the ex's for my lunch bag, which has my travel BS meter in it (that's blood sugar; I only wish it could detect actual BS levels...
). Then went to yard, unloaded Dingo and wlanut logs from job 2 weeks ago, bucked the logs to firewood length, reloaded Dingo into trailer and headed for job. A friend's house; 4 declining, 40-50" spruces, a completely fubarred, 30', spreading plum over his fence, AC and garden. Got the plum out, and while I was lining up the stump for the grinder, he comes out and tacks on 2 declining, 30"+ arborvitaes. Stripped the limbs on them, flopped the sticks over the fence into neighbor's yard (as the hike around the property sucked the big one for the limbs I had to take that way) down to the street in front. Filled the street between the chipper and the trailer w/plum remnants, and went 30' up the yard almost the length of the plum pieces for the arbs. Ground the plum stump in about 10 mins, then did a speed chipping session until dusk. Spent more time cleaning the wayward chips/dust from the pigs (took more time than chipping & quick estimate at neighbor's). Wrapped up just as rush hour was kicking in full time. Oh, did I mention I lost 4th gear in the chip truck? Happened about a mile out of the yard. Stupid thing would make odd, not quite grinding noises trying to engage, and wouldn't allow it to set. Was able to use all other gears, but still pulled over to get opinions from diesel mechs/trans speicialists I know. 2 I trust suggested something in the synchros, possibly a pin that needs to be replaced. Both said I should be fine on it for a few days, so that'll get me through the weekend (if stupid Hurricane Ian doesn't shorten it even more). I'll get it to a shop Monday to fix. Strolled in around 19:30, just to find out I've got a committee meeting for the FD. One hour of Zoompidity, and I made dinner during half of it. Just wrapping this up and headed for shower, unpacking/straighten duty, then bed for tomorrow.
Here, hold my beer....
