How'd it go today?

I finally got my rear tractor tire back on .Much to my surprise the new inner tube was made in the USA .Cheaper too that those Chinese pieces of chit on the inter net to boot .

Delivered a truck of bass wood for my little midget hair cutter ,freebie .She's a good friend ,campfire stuff .

Great day today. Spent the day spreading mulch, but the mini is now up and running and ready to rock & roll next week. Have a whole string of jobs we've been putting off until it got running, so time to have some fun! Ran it a bit today and it's definitely gonna take some getting used too lol, very touchy on the controls. Also was told I'm getting a nice little raise here soon as well 8) All in all a great day.

Now I just have to follow up some leads on some dump trailers. Dump trailer + mini=a very happy crew and Adrian :D

Happiness is a full woodshed! :D

Sadness is ... no more wood to split 'til January!
... however, I do know a geezer that might need help getting next years firewood in ... maybe ;)

Speaking of which, I need to fix the splitter.
You all would have cried at the amount of oak I threw on a burn pile today
Found out today my friendly competition walked off that crane job. He felt it too sketchy with the smaller crane. Guess I should make some calls as we don't have anything bigger up here that I know of. See if I can snag the job :/:

now that right there is one fine woodshed. How much snow load is that over hang rated for???

A few years ago, we had four feet of snow in one week. I got a little nervous at three feet and cleared it off.
So, it has a qualified rating of three feet of dry snow load. :)

Stephen, my splitter weighs four pounds and is powered by chocolate ... fairly reliable, too.

hahaha. I'm going to save that picture, I'd like something like that a little closer to the house. Maybe on wheels so I can drive it down to the pile, load up, then drive back. Thinking EASY again.

It has been so windy that I'm doing work aloft in winds up to about 30mph. You are right-- 50 is too stinking much...........but I got the fruit trees done(from the ground) before the winds got above 35. Doing stumps in 50mph sucked because of wind-chill and chip scattering but it wasn't a safety challenge.

Where ya at, buddy????

I felled the last tree of this logging season at 2 PM and went home early.
That felt soooo good.
It has been the longest, hardest season I can remember, we estimate that we have cut 9-10,000 cubic meters of wood.
Now it is over and I can hang the saws up on the wall for the next ½ year:)

We have been hard pressed to keep up, Stephen, but the weather has been perfect for logging.
Lots of frost, no snow.
The last of the smaller wood is being forwarded now, so in a month or so we get paid in full.
That is the real good part, when the bank account goes from emty to cornucopia :D

I got that big red oak down today, along with several other leaners. For the big boy, I made a "loop sling" out of 3/4" Double Esterlon, 100' long, girth hitched about 50' up in the tree. I simply tied it back to itself with a Zeppelin Bend, hung a block in it, and used the Warn to pull, doubling a 5'8" line through the block to increase pulling capacity. Two of the big come-a-longs were used also, each hooked to a 5/8" line. Even with all three pulling, it was a chore, as the trunk had a pretty good lean toward the house, and all the limbs were on that side. Then there was another red oak, not quite as big, leaning at about 15 to 20 degrees toward the house, over the center of the pool. The winch alone managed to pull it, after carrying the battery to the house and charging it for a while.

I'm glad it's over, and done. I hauled more gear to work with me today than I have ever hauled before, not knowing exactly what all it would take to rig them over.

Sounds like a heavy duty day Scott.
I got to make it rain fruitless mulberry for 6 1/2 hours after an 1.5 hour ride. HO cleanup with Katy assisting. Katy had started one tree about a month ago and I offered my help. Some friends of ours. Got both of them done. Way past neglected with ugly cuts all over. Hangers dead and 1/2 alive... Wraptor helped me end the day as all I had to do was the tops of the Mulberry Kat had started. Up 40 or so feet and made it rain some more.
Took the kids to play with their kids. They all had a blast.... Tired but a good day. Start two more removals tomorrow.
