Tree felling vids

Or move the cars.
One strict rule we adhere to at my company.
Move anything that can be moved, before falling a tree that can reach it.

I have too many stories of loggers hitting their own or a workmate's truck, because they trusted too much in their own skills or simply were lazy.

I know what you mean but..
The white thing is the handle of the jack, so it did go sideways.
That black line through the middle is deceiving, maybe a rot line from a twist years back.

Guys who jack big trees know how to aim a tree.

Complacency bites people in the ass.

I don't always move things with good green trees. Might bite me.

This is just me being a monday morning quarterback.
Why do a European type low stump on a tree like that.

Where do you most often come across rot and decaying fibers in trees?
Near the ground.
So on an iffy one like that one, go Burnham style and make as high a stump as possible.

That is what we do with the armillaria infested ash trees.
Then we cut the stump down, so as not end up having a forwarder stuck on it,

Or maybe I should just man up to the fact that I know shit about rot in PNC trees and shut up.

There is a first time for everything ;)

Me thinks a guy line was in order on that brute, and the jack should have been behind the other corner. But really too blurry to tell either way for sure.

Hope he had insurance. Yeow!
