Yea, I've found I'd rather drag one big ass branch than a bunch of little crap. It also gives the chipper something to chew on for awhile while I gather more stuff to stage.

Agreed, but that's why the arbor trolley or similar carts are so handy, you can stack that 6' high and pile it all right there by the chipper in a ready to go pile. Baby stuff like that is what cnd chippers were designed for, so that's right up my alley

I’m not a big fan of dragging anything by hand. Mini, winch, now an arbtrolly. Less effort involved makes your body happier.

No, I don’t think it’s worth teaching this old dog any new tricks.
I can see the advantages, especially on spur less trims, but I’ll see my career out the old way.

I cut down quite a few trees today. These two poplars were not very simple. To simplify the work, I removed the power cable and put it on the ground. After finishing the job, I hung this power cable back in its original place -

Today I cut down only three poplars. The work was complicated by a strong wind that blew directly at the one-story building. Therefore, I carefully placed a fairly significant part of the branches on the roof of this one-story building -

Remember those salt cedars, Tamarix Aphylla I hacked on for a couple years? Look pretty good now. They bush out like crazy.

The most annoying thing is that my mom and dad took part in planting these larches in 1981. 😢

Current pruning job.

End weight reducing and crown cleaning.

Using my standing end to be a pull-down line for my trunk choke.

This worked a treat. Orient your clove hitch advantageously.

When I've done similar, I used a butterfly in the free end, then hauled it up with the standing end.

Today I cut down a couple of maples, removed dry branches from the willow, and then it started to rain 🙁 The mess is eliminated by specially trained people.
