Finally got around to fixing the eye splice that got loose at the cross over point, and I finally got a dsplice soft fid, made it so much easier.
took it apart, reset the cross over point nice and even, and finished the splice, just need to whiplock it and its all good.

11.7 Donaghys Cougar.

Thank you Burnham, if there was anything wrong that you could see, I am happy for correction and learning, thats why I posted up the pics.

I am far from a splicing expert and have only a little personal hands-on experience with the art and craft of it. But I have looked closely at a very large number of splices in my 5 decades of rope work, by both pros and amateurs.

I see nothing at all to give me the slightest doubts about your work, from the pictures you posted.

What splicing directions did you use, the core bury looks longer than needed? The core bury can be made easier by reducing it by half for a couple of inches more than the bury length.

Earlier splices I have done, were following the sampson guide with a short fid length.
I had seen others that used a full fid, so the core bury on the above blue couger line was a full fid, with more taper at the end, than the 4 strands removed as per the sampson guide, the outer bury was as per sampson guide with their taper.
Had seen other climbers yt vids where they used a full fid, or near that for core bury, so followed that this time.
Appreciate your thoughts.
