Splicing A Triangular Thimble

Deadeye is complete aside from the lockstitching. I went with an 18" eye. I got advice that an eye large enough to pass over the porty would be best for convenience. I don't have my porty here, but I think 18" will cover it. I need to see if I can dig up something suitable for a lockstitich. If not, I'll have to stop at the sewing shop and see what they have.

This stuff is really nice to splice. Very easy, and low stress. I like it :^)

If you have a few of the longer strands from cutting the taper you can lock stitch with that. I like to use a contrasting color just to make it easy to see though.

I like a dead eye for the port a wrap sling and an ultra for blocks. I just prefer the porty to be snug

A multipurpose ratchet strap can hold the porty upright. Easy to adjust as the sling tightens

You've mentioned that a couple times before, and it got me to put my other camlock strap(One of the two I made my footloop from) in my rigging bag this morning(I was cleaning off my desk). That's a good use for it. I don't typically like to use straps for anything. Pretty much do everything with rope.
