How'd it go today?

Leave a mess like that and no apology, not a good way to do business for sure. I suppose that a few people get bowled over when they try to get understanding, but instead get some bastard on the phone. It's about winning the disagreement, that is all that matters in some circles.

the wife and i also went out to a really nice dinner. her students got together and gave her a gift certificate to a local winery/restaurant for graduation. yesterday was our anniversary so it worked out perfect. they do a community dinner every week, everyone is seated at one large table and a fixed menu is served family style. all local and organic ingredients, really incredible food. sat next to some interesting people and had some great conversations. lots of fun.

Damn Stig... make sure they fix that. Shit, if I did that to a driveway here, I'd be out there fixing it before I went to my next job, or I would lose work right and left from people just talking. Personal responsibility and taking some goes a long way to showing some integrity...

Day two of clean up of more storm damage on an account... I am tuckered out and tired of being on fight or flight due to shat broken over head, leaning on something else, or wind thrown root balls on a slope. On edge wears me out. I think I also have at least next years wood just off that place alone. And even then some.

Well, it's back to ham and cheese for me today. Funny, I can remember the taste of the different dishes but not what they were called.... I suppose I wouldn't make a good waiter in the court of Louis the fifteenth. The ruffled shirt cuffs and powdering your nose, I don't know much about either, but I guess one could learn. :/:

Very cool dinner story Jay! That was about a good a descriptive story as I've read in a long time!
Helped a friend move his parents, three pick ups, 22' Uhaul and my 16' trailer, it's still not all out! I went SUPER easy, light boxes, bed rails etc., but man if I don't hurt like Hell tonight! He's coming to get the trailer in the am to finish, I'm not!

Easy day here, put up 4 rick firewood plus 1/2 more in my truck for home, went over to a dr buddy's house after lunch and made a pepper grinder and a small salt bowl on his lathe. The fam is having a 'reasonable and usable' white elephant gift exchange on sunday afternoon and these will be what i bring. Used spalted silver maple, finished w/ walnut oil and bees wax. If i can get them in the house to take a pic, I will and post it. I think they look bad ass, it will definatly be the gift thats fought over since all the mrs' family think they're Julia Childs.

On that note, if anyone has any wood that makes for some neat turning, let me know. we can exchange some stuff if you'd like. The Dr. comes to my wood lot every so often and pics around. I also take him stuff i find that i think will be neat. He turned a bowl for a dr buddy of his froma crabapple tree I cut down. That turned out neat and the dr's wife loves it. He also does pens, vases, plates, etc. Every time I go over there, i leave wanting to buy a lathe...one of these days im gonna do it. :)

By Dr. do you mean a physician? Lots of physicians in the states are into woodworking, they find it therapeutic. Some can even do a pretty good job at it. :D I knew a kidney specialist surgeon that used to call me up for tips. I never asked him about servicing kidneys however. The interest just wasn't there.

Thanks. Two days fun really, talking about it again the day after. The owner of the restaurant swung by my shop again today, saying that they enjoyed having us too. Possibly it was my incredible knowledge of French wines, saying I would leave it to them what we preferred to drink. Though I did suggest red. I meant to read up a bit before going, but simply forgot.

Yes, Physician. This guy is an orthopedic (bones/joints) which is great in case i ever have questions or problems. He offered once to let me go in on a joint replacement surgury..i think that would be cool? but im not sure. Id have no part in it but just to watch. One of his office partners does furniture stuff, ive know him for a long time but didnt know he did woodworking.

I brought in the stuff i made but forgot to take pics and wrapped it up...duh. Ill try to get some when it gets unwrapped on sunday.

Been kind of a day....
Kids all over each other and I have never had to separate them so much in a day before. After lunch I thought I had them all settled and the rules of fair play laid down so I could go outside and get the head back on the Willys.... Seth got sent outside again for bullying his brother... Crikey!
Kat no sooner got home and went to sleep it started up again.
Oh well.....
Turns out some more of my tools came up missing so I am short the 1/2 - 3/8 drive adapter for the torque wrench anyway. :dontknow: Time to buy number 3. I think I only get to use them about once.
Dinner is almost ready and then I can settle into the next something I wanna do before I get to do what I really want to do after I could not do what I needed to do while doing what I had to do.
Oh well... Tires on the van tomorrow and another trip to NAPA before the kids go to grandma and grandpas to open gifts.

I just bought a brand new Dremel as the one we had disappeared...Low and behold guess what happened when Rob cleaned his room after he had reassured me he did not have or know were it was

Everyone has a good or best friend that can frustrate the heck out of them from time to time. :dontknow:
I ain't the easiest to get along with either in some peoples eyes... Some days the rain slides off the ducks ass better than others.

Reminds me of an old joke....

What goes UNDER water, OVER water, THROUGH water, but never TOUCHES water?

An egg up a duck's ass.

I just had to fire up the AC to cool off the house. It was 80 inside and I'm sitting here sweating in shorts and t shirt. 13 years in this house and this is the first time I ever fired up the AC on Christmas.

Check this out. Cold enough to go ice skating but hardly any snow up at the pass that is well past closed this time of year normally.

I have one of those. Borrowed my stump grinder earlier this month. It holds about 1.6 quarts of oil. I changed the oil when he brought it back. It had 1/2 a quart of oil in it (including what I was able to drip out of the filter).

I was not a happy camper!!!
