for sure, i use old climbing rope. still strong but sappy or stiff so not good in devices but the crotch doesnt care

I have a lot of Samson stable braid.




Maple leaf ropes has good deals.





A 3-strand hard lay Sampson tree-master if using a Maasdsm rope puller.




I like the grip and friction of Treemaster for natural crotch self-lowering without a lowering device.
Needs breaking in. Many don't like. Not great in a POW... works. Only wrap the correct direction for the twist.

Out of the box feel/hand I have to give the nod to Samson. I’m working my way through a reel of Maple leaf 1/2” and it feels slick and plasticy off the reel. But when it breaks in it’s nice, good wear resistance. Milks a bit more but nothing excessive.

The best of natural crotch rigging were the days of Manila triple twist - we lowered a lot of tops on our 5/8” and 1 1/4” at speed with minimal burning/glazing. Of course that was 45 years ago, pre-synthetics.

I beat the hell out of stable braid. I for years have said that Samson for my rigging and I trust Tom Yale with my life. Mostly climb on blue moon or it’s equal
Today was another great day of not being at work. Woke up at 4:30 to meet the group at 5:30 for a work out. It was good for me. Then I had a massage at 9:30. Enough time between to get a shower and relax. Then I did some stuff at home and got the bow sighted in for 20 yards. Still need some fine tuning but after 50 arrows my shoulders said it was time to quit. I should be dialed into a golf ball size grouping Friday and then I can start on the 40 yard pin. Oh well time to spend time with the family and my MIL

Outstanding, Rich. Have a fine time. I too really like Yale for my climbing rope...Poison Ivy here, but Blue Moon is same same.

I see Yale also makes a rope they call Poison Moon...same as Blue Moon and the old version of Poison Ivy, apparently.

What bow did you get?

Hoyt alpha x. I shot a Matthew’s ( can’t remember the model) and for me it wasn’t a good fit for me. I must’ve shot 100 arrows between the six bows I tried and then tuning this one.
