How'd it go today?

you've made it pretty clear you don't like me since the day I joined, mainly in the condescending smart ass replies you leave on everything I post, don't think I realize you don't do that shit on other peoples posts?
There are a number of things that I would call Burnham, Smart ass isn't on my list but it may be on yours. Different strokes for different folks.
I've not picked up on him being harder on you than any other member on here. In my experience from being on here a number of years, people come and go, they leave, stop posting or life simply gets in the way, but on the whole, experience is passed on to those who want to recieve it.
I've learned a lot from members on here, 99% I've not met in the real world but I would still consider 'friends' despite never meeting or living miles apart. I've also learnt that sometimes it's better to listen, especially to the old hands who have forgotten more than I know, as they've normally got to the stage where they can impart wisdom for a reason.

Just my take on it, I'm no better or worse than anyone else and my opinion is just that. Do with this as you wish.

You're not upsetting anyone else besides yourself, I suspect.

Burnham had never been one to knock people. One of the kinder folks, here.

A well-respected USFS career achiever and student of the world.

Probably can tell between those who listen to graybeard advice and those who will continue to beat their head against the wall.

Nothing to prove.

He is known to be clear and honest in his observations, which are commonly sound.

Edit... not commonly... can't think of an unsound suggestion or observation.

B has our respect, so nobody to try to impress.
The general community would not be impressed by unjustified criticism.

Busted antique desk leg led to hunting for screws which led to discovery of water on the floor which led to discovery of poor plumbing and alarm power appearing to be threatening to smoke…

Well, old Mother Nature delivered a big-assed amount of cleanup work to me and M yesterday afternoon late.

Forecast strong winds with gusts above 35mph and some heavy rain arrived, and we lost a large cottonwood in our riparian area about 75 feet north of the house. Good for the house that it blew down due east :).

It's 45"dbh and about 125 feet tall, a double stem develops 50' up or so. Big crowns above that. The root plate is something like 15'x10'. It took out a couple of 10" hemlocks, a 12" cottonwood, broke the tops out of 3 redcedars, etc. A real mess. No equipment access.

I'm hoping to be able to flop the root plate back into its hole...that would save a ton of work. But there are days and days with the chainsaws and manual clearing ahead. The joys of property maintenance :).

I'll get some pics to post when the rain eases up :).

Dadgumit! Wish I had the bike on the road, I'd come up later this week and lend a hand!

Speaking of, it seems a single part is keeping me from firing the bike up. The dang fuel petcock is clogged. I thought I had it flowing properly before I started cleaning the tank, but I could be mistaken. It's clogged completely right now. I dug as much crap out with picks as I could, but it's not a serviceable valve, the faceplate is riveted. I may have to replace it before I can start the engine. So I settled for replacing the lower fuel line and filter, flushing and bleeding the clutch, changing the oil and filter, and installing the new AGM battery. I also did a good deal of poking and prodding at every hose on the bike. They're stiff, but there's no signs of cracking or other deterioration. Wiring is tidy, and in great condition. Tires are so hard that I could probably do a burn out on Jell-O. @SkwerI is dead right that I shouldn't risk riding on them, but I probably will, for about 12 miles, when I take it to the local motorcycle shop and have new skins mounted. 550lbs is a lot of bike to wrestle into the back of a truck.

Burnham, I know the feeling. This summer I had a huge maple leader drop in the heat from sudden limb drop. There was access for my pick up truck and I cleaned it all up by hand, grumbling to myself the whole time how freaking easy it would be if I still had my Kubota R520 to use on it :drink:
