whats the benefit of a gooseneck? they are alnost only used for larger trucks around here…

Puts the weight directly over the axle instead of off the rear end allowing for a higher towing capacity. Also better backing abilities.

On the downside, it's moderately easy to back a wheel of the gooseneck trailer into a low spot while the trailer is somewhat jackknifed and crush the sidewall of your pickup bed. Flatbed tow rigs are pretty much immune to this, obviously.

Takes quite a turn to mess with my flat beds. Terrain as well.

A goose doesn’t back as tightly. Way more stable with a lot more weight
