How'd it go today?

Too windy to cut.

Recently bought 288 wouldn’t tune even close. Replaced intake gaskets today, better, now it will tune, but low power. Checked compression, low at 135. Checked piston to cylinder roof aka combustion chamber “squish” with solder in thru the spark plug hole. We want .020”, it’s over .030”. So needs thinner base gasket. It also has a no name piston so maybe the ring is not good either.

Race 281 getting worked on too. L wouldn’t tune. Took the slightly larger stihl carb off and put a 288 carb on. Also found a slight weep in the fuel line and fixed that. Saw runs now, 4- strokes at 14,800. Zing!

just a short 45 minute climb to take out a 14" DBH 100ft pine before a wind storm today, and stacking firewood, had to bend some rules to do this tree but it was what one may consider "an emergency"

wind gusts, in a noodle, and a few months of not climbing made it very uncomfortable, I almost called the job but I didn't want to do that to the guys and I felt I could still safely do the job, just slow and methodical, had to leave stubs to stand on so I could work around the side lean (and 25-30mph gusts pushing it around a few feet fairly violently)

its rare to see a pine this tall, had to crash the small trees under it to save the sitting area, pruned those up nice for the guy even tho he didn't mind, he just wanted to get the problem tree out ASAP

On the 'news' it said much of it was caused by people doing outside burning despite the forests being extremely dry

Who or what is to blame for this?
my best guess is someone having a bonfire, but theres multiple fires ranging from about to acres to 200, so it probably wasn't just one fire that started it

the other possible option was an ember coming out of a chimney, but considering its been fairly warm the last few days, I think its unlikely

we have been getting some dry days the past week as well, the 55-80mph gusts last night surely didn't help the fires, I know the 25-35mph gusts I was getting in the top of yesterdays pine would have been more than enough to make even a small fire uncontrollable, I actually almost called off the job because the wind was so bad and I hadn't climbed in months, had me shaking a little bit by the time I got down

did a quick freebie for a friend/local wedding venue, maple broke off across their driveway, then 3 bids and a chipdrop
people are getting bids like any other wednesday, despite the rain and crazy high winds

chipper winch is killer for these jobs, next up is probably fixing leaks so I can quit wasting time with drip trays everywhere I go, those darn bandit valves seep, and the turbo drain on the 4BT is cracked, gotta fix that, electric hydraulic pump on the dump truck is dripping from somewhere and I can't figure out why/where, its a cheap VEVOR pump anyways so I don't mind if I have to replace it with a better one

Looks like a segment of an orange has popped out.
They going to leave the rest?
What’s the species?
maple of some sort, theres a few sub species of them that I can't quite put my finger on

they plan to keep the rest if possible, I advised against it since the rest is just waiting to go, but they want to keep it, I will probably be back next year to take the other part off their house
