How'd it go today?

If only that strange reverse technique would work with wedges: pound the tree onto the wedges and watch it suck them in instead of having them back out every other hit.

Our dive team worked water safety for a 50k run yesterday. At the 15 Mile Mark the folks had to cross the stream... We were water safety so we rigged the crossropes and monitored people losing the grip. I will get some picts of the runners doing the crossing and the APTA helping set the ropes once I access another camera.

Nice day today.
Temperatures all of a sudden went up in the 60es.
I had a bunch of bids to make, all over the island, so I took the BMW.
Managed to use up a whole tank of gas and have a great time doing it.

Got home in time to spread a load of composted horse manure in the poly tunnel.
This years tomatoes, chilies, cucumbers, melons, basil etc are ready to move out there, once the chance of nightly frost is over.

I like the head to shave a little wood as it sets itself. Takes a little whacking to get it there, and you have to careful, but I don't have any major disasters.

Milled the apple today. Yet another guide failure. I'm closer though. Gonna swap the nails for screws, and I think that might work. Still sucks, but I think that's the best I can do for a truly portable system that's cheap.

Bored. Boss had stuff to do, so I stayed home today. Not sure what to get into. I have pruning to do on my property, but I want to wait til the leaves are fully out before cutting. I could do some work on the farm, but none of it is pressing. The one woods is a disaster, and I'm not up for that atm. Lots and lots of fallen white pine. It would be a huge time sink, and I'm not sure anyone cares. Probably go to walmart later and get the stuff to change my oil. Tomorrow or Friday will be good days to do it. Not too hot.

Had to Google Jay & Silent Bob.

Things aren't getting any better I take it, don't know how you do it really.

Starting to get a bit cool so it was time to bring some firewood in, should be right for the next few nights. Down to 0 tonight and -1 tomorrow. John would love it.

Had two guys on the same crew call off so I went to work. They called complaining about the pricing yesterday. One of them bid the job! I saw the bid, looked at the hours, and by god the price matched the rate for the crew. It was bid for 12 hours. I finished 6 out of 8 removals, plus started the seventh in 7 hours on the job while being a man short. I’m guessing their bad mood yesterday and waking up to 3” of snow this morning is what caused this sudden illness. Me and the other guy on the crew will finish it tomorrow morning, do their last job of the week and enjoy a paid day off on Friday while the boss gives them 3 days to recover from the shitty attitude flu. Looking like I’m going to be running the crew for a very large contract we just got awarded. 52 weeks a year for the next three years. If all goes as planned, my crew will be able to cover payroll for a long time. Guess who is negotiating a pay raise?
