I just went out and bought a Chinese made Stihl saw, it ran great for 10 minutes cutting up pallets but now it seems to be struggling to cut at all, my friend, who knows all about engines and such said it's just a case of crap in the air filter, what I would like to know is how often I need to do this?

A question for Rborist: When I come home from tree cutting, I often dump wood chips on the carpet when getting undressed, which my wife doesn't like. I think that instead of complaining, she should be happy to see the proof that I have been working. Please advise about this dilemma, thank you.
