I rigged a double purchase on the stub of a Doug fir.
After the fall I had to used a shovel to dig the block out of the ground.
After a little cleaning the block looked and worked like new.
A Jet rated at 2 ton swl.
40 years old and still in service.
Damn, steel is tough.
I've seen one inch web slings melt from abrasion, but never a big (sheathed) rigging sling fail by the same.
Course I've never done much heavy crane work either.
One time we put 6 Masdams, with 2:1 MA on one tree.
Quite steep ground. Above a house. Even put straps on the butt.
Talk about slow.
Click, click, click. Tighten each one up. Go on to the next... click, click, click...
