Front wheel drive, and a competent driver, can make it around pretty well in most conditions.

The only thing that ever stopped our old VW Rabbit (1976) or Mazda 323 (1988 ) was if the snow was deep enough that the flat underside of the unibody construction would plane up on top of the snow and lift the wheels out of decently weighted contact with the road surface...took about a foot unless it was really light dry stuff which didn't hold the car up, and which we usually don't get here on the west side of the Cascades.

The Subaru Forester (2010) is amazing...just about unstoppable, with the symmetrical AWD.

Was the Rabbit metal flake light olive green?

Supposed 60 mph gusts overnight worth 20 mph winds.

Big winds overnight, lost power and a 12" 65' DF snapped off at 20 feet. Power was off for 6 hours, ran the genny from 7pm to 12:30am and used about a third of a gallon on eco-mode .

Raining this morning. 50 yesterday and mid 40s today are helping to deice the driveway. One big sheet of ice. Had about a foot of snow to melt.

The snow is gone aside from the shadow areas and piles. I don’t think it will take long for the ground to dry out there’s no moisture in the soil. The grass areas that I cleared of snow are bone dry like mid August dry. Not good.

Yes, we are in the same situation. We'll be back in the 40's on Monday. Most of the ice is gone. Hopefully we'll have bare ground next week.
