I got an "outta state " experience this morning here in TX. It was 17 degrees this morning and customers sprinkler system had been on - crunchy, slippery ice lawn and the first 6 or so feet of trunk coated in ice. Probably warmed up to mid 40's though. I LOVE climbing in this weather, sweating buckets really takes the fun outta tree work in the summer. The ice definitely sucked on the other hand.

Today it didn't snow, and I didn't have any shovelling to do. I finally got the roof shovelled off and pounded off the foot-thick ice dams at the eaves with a sledge hammer. And I'm the lucky one. Thirty miles north they got 12 and a half feet of snow in the last week and they are still digging out. Snow blowers are no good after the first few feet because there's no place left to blow the snow. It has to be removed by front-end loaders.

Had a half dozen bigtruck drivers sitting on I-81 and I-78 in Pennsylvania, which has been shut down for 2 days now. It finally opened up this afternoon.

Next week they're predicting another storm. :O

76 here at 5:00 PM, sunny, slight breeze. It has been pretty dry. I irrigated my little walnut orchard on Thursday.

An end to the cold spell should hit +50f today.

yup. today was a Goretex XCR day, from boots to pants to jacket and hood. UGLY DAY.

but I worked my half day job then had a couple meetings at the local landscape association so it werent that bad. :)

BTW treeguyswife, I saw your name on the list for the board meeting tonight, approval is likely not far off :) welcome.

Thank Paul. We were wondering what the status of that was. I guess we'll see you there soon!

Don't go complaining now Al, it still feels about 40-50 degrees warmer than last week. :)

That's because it is 45 degrees warmer. The worst part about a fast thaw is that the melting snow has no place for water to go because the ground is still frozen, mud, mud and more mud.

At these temperatures it's about impossible to control the heat with a woodstove other than opening a window.I just let the fire go out and run on the geo-thermal which does excellent at these temps.I can't believe it ,I've burned less than 2 cords of wood this year,so far.

60s for the past 3 days. Blizzard Warning tonight.

Ain't it cool? Chance for hail and tornadoes tonight tomorrow am, then possibly snow tomorrow night? Been in the 60's here too! Look out Jeff and Dave, this is coming you're way soon!
Andy
