Whats blooming?

My son did his boyscout 'eagle project' at a local wildlife refuge last weekend.

Che, congratulations to your son! That is awesome.

Thanks Gigi!

He's 18 in a couple weeks. Nothing like waiting til the last minute!! (he takes after both his mom and dad on that) He has a couple requirements left, but the big project is finally DONE.

The leaves on the trees coming out finally .I mowed the grass for the first time this afternoon . Both the hand mower and the rider started up with no problems which surprised me immensely . Daffs are in full bloom but they only last at the most ten days ,maybe two weeks .

Spring has come to Scandinavia, too.
All my cherry trees are blooming like mad, and the plums are starting, too.

It sure makes the old homestead look nice:

Ceanothus cuneatus (Buck Brush) and Ceanothus integerrimus (Deer Brush) in white are really pretty this year.

Some of what the locals call Indian peach or Mountain Peach in lavander. I am still working on getting the real name of it.

And Elderberry....

For those of you who use canola oil in your saws, this is what a field of bar-lube looks like.
The rapeseed fields are in bloom all over the place right now.
It has an interesting mustardlike smell and if No-Bivy was to place one of his hives next to a field, he'd get an incredible amount of honey. Unfortunately not very good quality honey, but lots of it.

this one is a pest locally, the nurseries have it growing in the pots unless they are very well tended. Supposedly it makes great honey also, Fireweed.

Fireweed makes great honey, yes.
Also looks real good.

In fall if you run machinery in areas where there are lots of them, the windborn seeds are a nuisance for stopping up radiators and such.
