The Official Work Pictures Thread

How many hours? Doesn't look like that much work to me

Emergency job clearing for a new septic tank. Old one from the 70's gave up a few days ago. Apparently don't let trees grow on your tank? Tight access.

Was a little nervous pulling over this little backleaning Norway maple, very brittle generally and worse in the cold. Fat hinge and mini pull was just fine.

Pat, does oak wilt kill em all in the area or will some survive?

Busy stuff around here today. The other half of a failed oak. Guy'd it and rigged it down till I felt comfortable with the fell and pull. Left the guy in it as insurance.
Then a 4:1 pull with the portable
Winch to tip a piece of tree off a friends reloading shed. Couple more estimates and some bondage at the end of the day. No bondage pics though.

Cory,
Oak wilt is a real pain. The first few trees we took down, burned them, and trenched around them. Still dealing with spread twenty years later. Spreads through root grafts. Our woods are 90% black oak. We are working toward more diversity of species as the oaks succumb.

Bad year for insurance companies, but then I wouldn't be surprised if they try to pin the tree hazards on the homeowner for not having them cut sooner.

The sad part of this is how many folks cant afford or get insurance due to the fires. Tons have been canceled with CA fair plan as thier only option. Jacking their rates high and getting canceled for a claim.
Nobody wants to insure CA homes.

Good luck trying to get ahead of the wilt. Here around the lake the black oak is taking a beating with oak wilt gorgeous stands 100'+ 250-300 year old trees all dying or dead, maples are taking over the oak stands.

Anyone know Shawn Dondzila of Arbor Master Tree Care near Whitmore Lake, Michigan? Kevin? Turns out his wife attended our day camp when she was a youngster.
