Couldn’t believe the mini hauled this log out. Had to eek it up hill a bit but John Henry jr did it. 36” 8’ white pine. View attachment 107090
Nice! You can drag more by installing skid- branches in the log path, after the mini passes, leapfrogging several 6" ish diameter branches. Way less resistance than dragging the butt.

Then you can go hang out in Skid Row afterwards, have a beer and ogle the prostitutes.

really liking my crane work. Left the ground at 9:00 am ( city regulations) and headed to the shop at 1:00 pm. Spiderweb of service lines on the road so we tip tied and raised every brush pick. Less than 50% of chart till we hit logs. Then we were at 80%
Wasn’t the first on this street and won’t be the last. All these old pin oaks are well past their prime

Dude, that stump is like a third of the house.

Fiona: You just rock. Do you understand me.

Sven: Singlejack in God’s country? Dude I want yer life. Yer a man though. I get pretty scared workin by myself. Worth it though.

I got a new phone. Something is up with the file sizes being too big to load, or loading like these two.

Any ideas?

Of what, in particular, Jed?

I had a heck of a time getting a line set in a fir to install a Rig and Ring, which jammed up during retrieval.
15 minutes more daylight and I would have had it down cleanly.

Hung a crazy-shaped, smaller- medium dead spindly Madrona, and had a right and left control line, which half way through, I reset 90* to their starting position.

Pulled a few tricks outta my hat.

Loaded up, trailer side, in the driveway.

Was over the garage, swung it 90* over the skylights on the house, bit by bit, chunk by chunk.

Have to go retrieve the rigging tomorrow.

Climb line is in place.
I'll be able to inspect it for damage from the ground. Had my binoculars out for setting a line, so they're handy.

10 years ago, I had eagle eyesight. 5 years ago, super good, squinting. Bought cheater glasses the other day. Been meaning to get an eye exam and glasses. Only been 28 years.

Makes you wonder how they grew so well considering some people put in a new driveway within 10ft of a tree, and it dies 2 years later.

The two pictures are 19MB and 64 megapixels... my guess is the forum doesn’t like the 64MP, it did the same thing with my 24MP picture I posted earlier that was just over 1MB.

I try to sesize all my stuff to a practical resolution (800-1400px max) but I tend to do stuff on the computer. I don't know how to resize on a phone. Some forums will auto resize images, but can still have a problem with the initial size.

Working down at the farm this week. Spent some time yesterday on the roof of Granddaddy's shop patching a few holes. I had only planned to work in the one corner with one rope but realized I needed to cover the whole surface so ended up setting up two SRT setups... One rope runner pro and the other akimbo. SRT sure is nice for doing something like this.

The big pecan tree I was using for an anchor has long sweeping limbs. I didn't want to hang off just the end of the limb so I had to redirect the line through some other crotches of the tree back towards the center. I learned that pecan trees can really be an aggravation with their flaky bark. That first picture that shows the poison ivy rope with a pulley was part of my process of breaking a small limb off that had grabbed the climbing rope and would not allow it to move through the tree... Too much friction because of that small limb. I had to set a three to one pull to break the limb out of the system.

Sean and Gary killing solo work!

Another day, another dollar. 120’ of stick at 50’ radius in that picture. We stayed at half chart most of the day. It was cold and had two inches of snow fall in the 3 hours it took us to get three trees down to logs. I came down at that point to warm up. Last pic was take. Of me when I snagged a guys pit vipers early in the morning. Asked if they made me look like a real tree guy. I think they made me look like Randy Savage😎

Gary: Sir, you win the Tactical Tree Climber of the Universe award. Outstanding thinkmanship.

Sean: Quit showin off... I’m darn near legally blind without Coke-bottle contacts/glasses. Upside is, when I take my glasses off... I’m so stinkin nearsighted that I got super magnified vision for chain sharpening... my only super power.:(

No, I dunno man... years ago now, I was down in Watrous New Mexico, falling about a billion Salt Cedars for a super wealthy landowner guy. Small trees, but Watrous is about a billion miles from ANYWHERE. Then the guy made me go up this super massive Rio Grande Cottonpig just to get a buncha deadwood out and crap... not a soul within a hundred miles, or so it felt. I remember thinking my way (Gary-like) through all of these different scenarios… like: if my rope gets hung up on the barbwire fence, which it darn well could have… How am I gonna get out of this?

I dunno man... my hat’s off to ya, is all’s I can say. Ironic stuff, because I really loved it too, in a weird way... but one could discount this as imbecilic, nostalgic sentimentally. I admire you all the same.
