I recall one old timer telling me stories of working in the 1940's and 50s with different people that had traveled across the states doing tree work. Jim Ruddel was the eldest Arborist in the Santa Rose district during the 1970s. A real honor to have met and worked with the man.

Can your log truck deal with those like that? Maybe you grab the top and then cut the log at the mid point and then it is pickable?

3 good sized removals today with an inexperienced crew. Very nerve racking at times. Only pic I took and it was the first cut of the day. Had great conversation with the crane op all day though. Nothing exciting happened. Just nice smooth crane removals. Well except the ground crew. They did ok but with the crew I normally have we would’ve been done by 3 instead of 6. It was a beautiful day though😎

Log truck don't give a shit, just grab the top and lay them flat Then pick them from the middle. 3 poplar logs and 4 pines to the mill. Love that old POS (truck not he Wife)

Here is a good (small) example of the kinds of witches broom we were dealing with. Removed dozens of trees apparently killed by the growths. My guess is dwarf mistletoe, but not 100%sure. So glad to be using the new chipper, 16x19"opening still had to dice that top growth into 4 pieces

Fun little butt catch over the fence, check out that crazy swollen lowest branch. Anyone else encounterd this on spruce or fir?

Re mulched the 500+foot long path to the pier, new chips looking good.

In every angle, the camera makes it look smaller than it is in person. There's 2 big 3ft diameter oak trees growing out of that stump.

I was thinking about your truck conundrum while fueling up with biodiesel yesterday. Is there any chance of "alternative fuel" loophole for you? Really easy switch for many engines, and seems like something SF would go for

There are a number of exceptions...

Drive less than a 1000 miles a year verified by 3rd party.
Switch the motor for a 2012 or newer...

Sell out of state which I did... $15k... down the road. 2400 miles to Michigan.

The new owners bought trucks... just need to sign so they can park at our yard... I have a gift of just over bidding to not make this job but be in contention for next opportunity. Stall tactics.

Yes for sure. It was highly unusual, a pretty huge (75'x3.5') dead elm with wide spreading top, I took the whole thing down without any ropes, 'just' a bucket truck.
