The Official Work Pictures Thread

Hard to know. Went where it was pointed. Brushed another tree on the way down.
Didn't break off.

I stood it on wedges, and pulled it quickly, parellel to the building.

Tomorrow, i have a pumpkin to fell.
At least it's half green. No sapwood rot. Should hinge fine, 30* clear off the buildings.

A couple with sapwood rot are NOT getting pulled toward the buildings after last night. Into the woods, into tight lays... fast feet.

Oh, and luckily, i spotted the longitudinal crack in the butt of the tall willow, leaning at the buildings slightly. Yay!

Ash leaner in after dark yesterday... picked up the job after finishing a stump. break was about 15 up. started with a notch 180 degrees to direction of lean. these were the next 3 cuts

A phone booth! Can't remember the last time I saw one in the wild. Looks like it has a phone in it, but it's gotta be a decoration, right?

Cracked willow to start...90* retainer with the Maasdam rope puller, double chain, tightened with wedges.

Dying doug-fir...
Let her pound the wedges... smaller than I thought, 32" bar.
Might become 2x6s. Got 5 16' logs before the top broke over a hard crest... top had already died.

Ha. No idea... I just tried not to bomb it... looks like it has hand hangs that slide.. the whole thing is on a ratchet strap through an eye.

I'm going back tomorrow.

Found a cable on the verge of snapping it's final 3 strands... the prime was like "Do you cable?" I was like yeah.. doesnt everyone that works in these fatties. I'm a jerk trying to be nice.

Took out 2 huge sugar maples with the 55t, 75 yds of chips, log removal tomorrow AM. Only got one lousy pic

Each sling good for 9k lbs, I believe. The crane op is a wizard, he wouldn't do anything unwise.

I just switched from 1/2" wire slings to cloth slings good for 6k lbs working load. They are nice so far and given that they always hang straight down, they're great for lowering down thru the canopy rather than kinky wire slings that always want to get hung up en route.
