How'd it go today?

I read that is an easy to "pick" up a long aluminum scaffold plank that spans large distances for moving compared to heavy wooden boards/ placks.

Interesting.

I bought a new dump trailer today. I took everything I have learned over the last 25 years about dump trailers and bought exactly the trailer I wanted. 7x16x4, 8k lb axles, 14 ply tires, 7 gauge floor, dual latches on the rear gates that won't fly open when you overload the sides, and a hydraulic tongue jack! Because I am 60 years old and my days of cranking a 12K lb tongue jack by hand are over.

I don't really need a trailer very often, but for the last year I have been covering the payments for a buddy on his trailer after he went to jail. He was assuming payments on a very bad deal, and still owed $13k on a trailer worth $8-10k. I covered the $300 monthly payments by renting it out. About the first of the year, he quit returning my phone calls. I spoke with his mom and she had spoken with him the day before. I also have all his tree gear stored on my back porch for the last year. I thought we were friends, but now he won't return my calls or texts? I just wanted to check up on him and see how he was doing.

So my patience reached its end, and I turned in his trailer to the seller. I said I was no longer willing to cover his payments for his trailer when I could buy my own trailer for the same payments. I ordered a trailer from Top Shelf in Jacksonville, FL and picked it up today. I already have it rented for tomorrow.

Total price was $13,760 including tax, tag and title. $1000 down, $280 per month. I got it in gray because the sales girl said "black is boring".

@Skwerl

Sorry your friend ain't friending well. I've been there.

Nice trailer though, I'm sure it will serve you well!

Sales girl was right, black is boring. That grey slaps! But I'm biased, I really like grey.

Well, Kave, that tree was pretty beat up from storms. Nice job btw. Sorry I could not be there. That big ol stump tomorrow though.
HO was advised that the tree will probably have to come down in the future. He's going to get used to the idea after the building is built. Be an easy TD now though, even with a building beside it.

It came out way better than I expected, it looks much better in person. That stump looks like it could be an absolute bear, or really easy. It felt pretty solid when I walked on it this morning, and it's got a loooot of sap. Bet it smells nice though.

Does it have remote control dump? I’ve added it to all of my dump trailers and love the convenience.

My view after supper this evening. I’m in Tennessee for a few days. Got a customer who owns a cabin up here with several trees leaning over it. He asked if I’d go that far to cut some trees. I told him I would have the money was right. I rented us a cabin on Airbnb that’s two miles from the job. Got most of them down today. Got two more to climb tomorrow and two to flop. IMG_3813.jpeg

I like being able to dump from the driver’s seat. And I can pull forward while dumping and lower the bed while pulling forward.
