How'd it go today?

Morning went well. Afternoon was a bit tense. I'm not sure of this is a dehydration issue, but at noon I had a granola bar of some sort, and the next 2.5 were hell. Nausea, stomach was in extreme turmoil. I made it back to the shop and left early, but barely made it. I almost pulled over near a corn field and left instructions for my coworker to just put up a simple wooden cross like they did for cowboys in the Old West. Maybe scratch a pithy epitaph.

Here lies Dave.
Tried to outrun his stomach.
He almost made it.

Without question the worst at work gastrointestinal crisis I've ever had.

I think I just harvested one of the largest honeydew melons ever. It started with seeds from a store bought melon that looked unusually shaped and larger than the rest. In ideal conditions it may have grown larger.

31.5" in circumference, and my scale read "err" after reaching 11.09lbs, and there was a little more weight to go. It may have reached 12lbs or so.

I went to work and then back home after dry heaving in my office trash can even though I was full. I sure wasn’t gonna go hug a public toilet. It just gradually went away but I heard one of the welders went home early sick.

A method for evaporative cooling that seems popular around here at outdoor venues of many types is overhead misters.

Just google "patio misters".

You remember the swamp coolers in fire camp B? Not perfect but it helps a lot. Especially when you are on night shift.

Gluten allergy?

Maybe try some parasite cleanse: Ivermectin or the capsules of blended herbs called Humaworm (it's what I use, and it does work). Maybe avoid nuts too for a while.

We have a bunch of big porta cools. Helps when it’s not humid. It’s usually humid in the am in August. If it’s over 110 outside it might stay down at 100 in the shop.

Chicken ranches (barns) have watered roofs or entire walls that are swamp cooler panels. I have cooled our seatainer blasting booth with water before, worked amazingly well. Like 160 down to 80.

I have considered a water line down the peak of our shop roof. I thought maybe work it out on a timer so that it runs water to the gutters, shuts off, lets it evap, and repeats instead of running continuously. Seems the evap might cool more with less water - which we do have plenty of.

Wasn’t too bad on this rooftop this am since there is a breeze up there.

I'm not sure. I didn't have any gluten yesterday before this happened. This morning there were lingering issues. Luckily the first lawn was 1/4 mile from my house.

So, Little Brother Wyatt came out to visit for a few days. Train was delayed, so he got in late on Sunday. Monday he played on the dirt bike and just generally chilled while I worked, then we went for a little nature hike near the ranch to gather some sugar pine cones.

Today, after work, we managed to sneak off to Yosemite. Wyatt was fairly unimpressed. Thus I was motivated to impress, so we continued on to Mariposa Grove, and I showed him some of the big trees! He was indeed dually impressed.

Also, we hit the Tandoori Express on the way home and ate WAAAAAY too much! Lamb tikka masala and goat vindaloo! Wyatt proclaimed the food the highlight of his trip. Glad he had a good time, and glad that we only scratched the surface of what the area has to offer. Not a bad go of it for a two day visit, really.

today went amazing! 13 hour day (was scheduled for 2, we made it one)

got to show off the new loader for a company I work for semi frequently, owner was impressed with it when I was in a tight spot and taking my time, and almost had a heart attack when I had to drag stuff 100ft to the chipper and was still waiting on the chipper to finish the last limb, would have been 7 hours today but his chipper lost an O2 sensor so he had to replace that, hours of troubleshooting and parts runs later we got it fixed, absolutely love working with this guy and his crew, all laid back, cracking jokes, free pizza and drinks all day long, pays more than I ask for and we get a LOT done in a day, 6 loads of chips out today, 13 bradford pear trees removed and cleaned up, averaged 30 minutes a tree

and, the first new "tool" I bought for my company, the 7x14 homesteader dump trailer may be leaving for good this weekend, 4 years its served me perfectly, never once caused a problem and just works, but I got the opportunity to trade it for a 7x16 gatormade gooseneck so I'm not turning that down, got to mess with a gooseneck for the first time today and imediatly got on marketplace, first listing I see is the identical twin to the one I pulled today and he wanted to trade for exactly my trailer, so thats a perfect win for me

now to find a gooseneck hitch setup to install before saturday
