How'd it go today?

Bad mood today. Just felt off balance, and nothing seemed to go smoothly. I did see a ton of osprey on my big job. I've never seen that many on the wing at one time. They were hunting(Fishing? Do osprey hunt or fish? Hmm...) over the water. Never saw a dive, but lots of hovering, and I saw a couple flying with fish in their talons. They look really cool from underneath. Striking colors. They have an almost sw desert vibe going with their colors and marking. Cool birds

Sawmill organizing this week. A lot of pine going through the yard this spring. Probably going to mill 50-60,000 feet, maybe more. I've got piles of garbage logs that people seem to think I needed. New policies are in the offing. eta: kind of pointless without a before, I guess.

They hunt fish, of course.
:D

Quite the yard there Dave!!!!

And you are gonna have to do more than post sweet bacon porn Rich! I need details, like a complete recipe, or at least what's in it!

Bathroom remodel, sigh...
View attachment 109923

I've been putting mine off for years now. Need to get to it one of these days. Our upstairs extra bathroom has a drain running across the length of the house and there's a low spot in the drain that has clogged up a few times over the years. It's always a big mess since it overflows into my wife's downstairs office; her ceiling is fubarred. The toilet in that bathroom has been sealed shut for over ten years. The sink and shower/bathtub work fine but paper products from the loo got backed up.

You hang with a different crowd than I do, obviously. But you are correct, Oregon is far from unscathed.
their presence has an impact on everyday life. I dont see how anyone in this country could feel unaffected by it. Do you avoid places at certain times? do you have any security on your valuables? the act of avoiding it and protecting yourself from it is a reaction to it presence.

Yeah, the funny thing is I remodeled this same bathroom around 20 or so years ago. My wife has been watching too much HGTV!

Yeah Rich. What’s that all about?

You can’t go posting shit like that without the recipe!

Proper tease, you are. ;)
It’s simple. A bacon weave with bulk breakfast sausage rolled out on to it ( 1 lb in a gallon zip lock bag (tiny corners cut off so air can escape)) Precook the scrambled eggs and hash browns, add cheese. Roll up and put in the smoker. 225*F until internal temp hits 165*F. The pair took 3&1/2 hours start to finish. The bottom bacon is a bit flippy floppy but still good. Choose a good bulk sausage. This was the store brand and I wasn’t to happy. Also I think I’m gonna drizzle the next one with maple syrup for the last hour. Smoking is new to me so it’s a work in progress. Next time I do two, I’m gonna spice up one with some jalapeños

Kevin, we do not avoid certain places at certain times. We don't lock the doors to our home unless we are going away for at least many hours. Sleep soundly at night with unlocked doors. Though there is the small feeling of security that having a short barreled side by side shotgun nearby in our bedroom offers.

I do lock the workshops at night, because they are 250 feet from the house and somewhat closer to the road...that's a relatively new thing, say in the last 5 years. Don't generally lock our cars/truck at home, unless we are leaving some of them when off for more than a few weeks.

My wife and I are unaffected by "it".

Didn't do much today. Boss was busy getting papers ready that had to go out, so I did a bit of paperwork. Having issues with one of the bridges. The dimensions don't work on one of the structures, and the other two structures are incomplete/unclear. Gonna have the boss open it up in autocad and give it a look over before I make an official statement, in case I missed something, but I'm pretty sure I didn't; the plans just suck.

Left early, and dragged a locust log out of the woods on the farm. I had cut them for the boss to use as fenceposts, and he isn't gonna use them, so I'll make boards out of them. That was a PITA. They're in a planted pine woods, and a lot of the trees are failing, so they get thrashed pretty bad in storms, and there's crap everywhere. Between that and the briars, it was hard dragging the log out. Got home, moved some firewood around, and cut an old tractor in half. I have it loaded in in the truck, and I'll take it to work, and put it in a scrap metal container the boss has. Ended up being a somewhat productive day, just not so much work stuff.

Only a half day today. I had to leave to take the wife to her doctor appointment. Just a shot for her back but she’s not allowed to drive afterwards. Did a few small things and made dinner. Spent my evening putting new vinyl on the four wheeler seat. It finally was shot after 20 years. Not as smooth as factory but for $12 and a bit of my time, I’m happy with the outcome. Heck I’ll be happy if the whole machine last another year. Also ordered a generator and am waiting on pricing for a 35 hp engine for the 38 special.
