How'd it go today?

Glad you guys are alright.
You folks sure do pay a high price to live there.
We pay a high price in multiple ways, I guess. Being California born I am used to quakes and they don't really scare me. The scaredest I've ever been is when I went to Kansas to visit my daughter and there was a tornado nearby. I will take a shaker over a tornado anyday!!

Fear not the skinny wood...

Oak is strong, obviously, I know that. Now I've spent enough time aloft locally to be feeling a lot more confident. Don't hurt to have Stephen encouraging me, his experience lends me a lot of confidence.

It was a beautiful day for climbing, but to be fair, the weather has been highly agreeable since I've been here. Honestly, Da Boss is gonna have to chase me off with a stick, I'm having way too much fun. Send some prayers that the phone gets busy, yall!

JB Weld and send it!
Funny how PC7 came out years before JB Weld, but JB seemed to catch on. Basically the same stuff. PC is less runny. Do any of the old folks remember the PC counter ad. A glass soda bottle capped with a golf ball? Had a shelf glued on and a rubber bathtub plug in the mix somewhere also. Some other stuff I can't remember.

It's cheaper. In large quantities anyway. You can buy it in mini paint cans. Actually I think they might have changed it to plastic large containers now. I have used a lot of it through the years. I had a Corvair for a field car. Dad asked me to move it and I didn't have a battery that fit in the hole. I took my road car battery out and stuffed it in but the hood would not close. No biggie I thought. Just moving it a few feet. Gust of wind came along and lifted the hood up just a bit and that's how you released it. Bang, down on the battery it went. PC 7 fixed the hole in the case.

Fixed a lot of gas tanks, a hole in the aluminum fuel pump for a diesel tractor, went over the top of a weld on a cracked block, and many more things I can't remember.

It’s looking to be an unusually warm but beautiful day. I got my early morning sunlight while “getting cold” this morning. It’s amazing how warm the sun feels on bare skin after getting out of 32F water. Anyhow, the temp rise works out great since I have a dozen stall mats that need a good power wash and scrubbing. Hopefully they’ll dry too.

looked at PC7, looks pretty decent, not really related but I think my new favorite "glue", west system 105 epoxy resin, technically not a glue but one drop on anything and its there forever, one drop between any 2 parts and they aren't coming apart again, not cheap (like $150 a gallon for resin and hardener) but its nice stuff, just don't mix too much or it'll melt the mixing cup lol

Got called off for rain and then an hour later got called for a random drug test 🤬. Not a big deal but tossed a wrench in plans for the day off.

not worried about failing a drug test, but that sounds super annoying, I just know that call will be while I'm in the middle of a job that I can't leave

D.O.T physical every 2 years, random test every year, and doesn't your insurance require one every year? kinda need my CDL, but with the 3 week school and all, I'm contemplating just hiring a guy once I get to the point of running a crane, and the rest of my trucks will just be under CDL, right now my chip truck, and pickup are both under CDL, don't even need a physical in my situation which is nice

Yep. Just a piss test. No worries on passing but annoying. Only about 90 minutes of wasting my time today. I’m on the clock to go but really not worth the time to drive in and back. Reminded me that I’m due for a DOT physical by the end of the year. Guess I’ll schedule that for an inopportune time. I did have time to get stuff done around the house afterwards.
