Downed a couple hazard trees at the golf course this morning: large Cherry broke & leaning on a very dead Ash...Cut the Ash and they both came down just as planned. Bringing Nic up to help Mon to take out several more so they can clean them up before the season starts.
Rich, I enjoy it, just never had much time for it before.
Nic, give Trev an attaboy from me. don't forget to grab a saddle form me for him on Mon.
Well got to get packed then off to band practice. Had two new Bass players hose us for showing up today so guess I'm on Bass for today...ah well, can't win them all.
Nice way to spend some time Stig. All work does make for a dull life & a great way to teach I such a relaxed atmosphere.
& as for those trees - yuk! As a hand cutter it would be a fast saw & running shoes. As a business owner, I'd get a big harvester in & let them do there thing.
Rebuilt a 200T that I inherited from Stehanson. See how she rips tomorrow.
Fixed a FS 81 for the homestead and an Echo GT2000 for Levi to use about the house.
Productive day.
Yeah Jim, and the fact it was Stephen's adds some sentimental aspects aside from the fact it is a 200. Sense of accomplishment of taking a bunch of pieces in a box and making a saw out of it that runs.... helps a man's attitude for the week....
Hard to kill that little 2000 Dave. About the right size for a 10 year old to run as well
Had a nice " career transition" day: Spent the morning w/Nic (timbertramp) taking down some dead Ash & broken/rotten Cherry, deadwooding a few trees, and trimming for clearance for the mowing tractors on a fairway at the golf course I start at next week.
Paid Nic and he headed straight for Vermeer, about 1/4 mile down my road...wonder how much it cost him to come up and work today
So far between vermeer and the wife's truck breaking down I think today cost me about 237 dollars. But Trev did wait almost 3 whole minutes before putting on his new saddle and getting started up our training tree.
Wife's ford escape had an after market gps/remote start/alarm on it. Well apparently when that all shorts out it takes out the battery and locks up the starting system to prevent theft. So Yea that was real fun to fix
Ahh, those things are tools of the devil. The last one I Un-intstalled was rubbish. Would enguage the starter every time the selector was moved past neutral.
They paid mechanics thought it was the neutral safety switch.
The professional installer just stripped insulation and did the twist and black tape method. The aftermarket ones are known to cause all sorts of gremlins.
It's all on the install and starting with a quality unit. I have a remote/alarm in my '03 f350 and its one of the few things I wouldn't do myself. I found a shop that had a experienced installer I could meet and talk to about it and so far it's been flawless. A lot of the new systems can start/monitor/alert right from your phone. They carry a 'subscriber' ongoing fee though.
Yea her truck "had"the phone operation feature and could get a print out of mileage, run time, how often it was started and all that garbage. I guess the college that owned it before must have wanted to keep track of driving practices. Now it's a dumb truck lol
You are right Jim. They are the devil!! Mine is factory but I still don't like it. Well I don't like it unless it's really cold in the morning.
Finished up dead wooding white oaks today. I know it's not the best time of the year but when big ass pieces are falling into the yard people are not going to wait till the best time for the tree. Last one I did was a bit tough but set up awesome for a great descent. Took a big swing to the roof top to blow it off and then another over the fence to toss over the few limbs that had to land there. Also got the young buck in a saddle after. Let him go up about 40' rope walking and drop back down. He thought it was great but admitted that he definatly has respect for us now. He said we make it look so easy and he(22 YO) was tired. Got off early enough to plant 300 onions with the kids. Momma was a bit upset that they were walking in the house like PigPen from Charlie Brown but happy that they enjoyed it as well. Everyone is cleaned up and in bed so I'm gonna relax and hang out in The House before bed
Enjoy it while you can Justin, but I'm gonna lay a big told you so on you when your pickup starts itself one day and drives to Tim Hortons for some TimBits, maybe a stop also to Canadian Tire.
Sure, it seems like innocent hijinks at first......
