My teacher from Burma said panthers were known to enter a room at night at a way station, 2nd floor up where folks slept in group rooms on floor pallets. The panther would cross the room while folks slept, choose someone to take, often across the room, grab them by the throat and carry them back out the window. No one knew anything happened until the next morning when "Joe" was missing. Like Jerry says, "When they want you there's no stopping them. "
